The Park Attendant will perform unskilled and semi-skilled manual work to ensure appropriate maintenance and order of Franklin County’s parks. This is a customer focused and operational role in which the employee needs to communicate in a hospitable manner and display good organization skills. Work includes performing horticultural practices in the parks, cleaning and maintaining recreational facilities. This includes preparing athletic fields for sports and team events. This includes using a hand drag/rake to prepare fields, cleaning of the parks and ball fields, picking up trash and emptying of trash bins and the cleaning and restocking of bathrooms. Additional custodial duties may also be performed. Additional responsibilities will include customer service and assisting other departments and agencies and organizations with coordinating the use of facilities. The position will be responsible for enforcing facility policies, rules and regulations and custodial services such as cleaning restrooms, sanitizing and setting up facilities for use by individuals and groups with facility reservations. This position will require flexibility and the ability to change directions as the day requires. This position requires regular work outdoors and in all types of weather conditions. The schedule for the position will be rotating weekends and evening work hours to ensure that the parks are clean and available for the residents’ use. The physical duties of the job are walking, kneeling, standing or sitting for prolonged periods of time, climbing, stooping, crawling, lifting and carrying moderate to heavy materials up to 50lbs. The position requires working in both indoor and outdoor environments and exposure to various hazards such as loud noises, vibrations and chemicals. Duties may expose employees to human bodily fluids and thus the work is subject to OSHA requirements on bloodborne pathogens. Work is performed under the supervision of the Park Services Supervisor or Director and is evaluated through observation and inspection to carry out the assigned duties. High School Diploma or GED
6 months’ experience with ground maintenance equipment
Customer serviceHours are 15-20 per week.
Some weekends required.
