Emergency Veterinarian – Department Lead – Sugar Land, TX
A veterinary specialty and emergency hospital is seeking an Emergency Veterinarian – Department Lead to join its team. This role combines clinical emergency care with leadership responsibilities, offering an opportunity to guide a team while maintaining hands-on involvement in patient care.
Responsibilities

Provide emergency medical care to patients during scheduled clinical shifts

Oversee daily operations of the emergency department in collaboration with leadership

Manage scheduling and coordination of the emergency veterinarian team

Mentor, support, and guide veterinarians and support staff
-
Assist in developing and implementing protocols, workflows, and quality standards

Participate in leadership meetings and contribute to hospital initiatives
-
Foster a positive, collaborative, and professional team environment
Qualifications
-
Doctor of Veterinary Medicine (DVM/VMD) degree from an accredited institution

Active or eligible veterinary license

Minimum of 3 years of emergency veterinary experience preferred

Strong clinical skills in managing a wide range of emergency cases

Leadership experience or interest in a leadership role

Excellent communication, organizational, and interpersonal skills
