About the Role

The purpose of the role is to operate the automated nailing machine, manually loading nails and parts and monitoring the vibratory feed and automatic nailing process to maintain optimum production output.

The role also includes carrying out small Total Productive Maintenance (TPM) and Planned Maintenance (PM) tasks to help maintain machine reliability. Continuing to learn skills associated with automated production processes, whilst being fully compliant to all corporate and legislative standards and guidelines.

Key Responsibilities

• Manually load and fill the machine's hoppers and feeders with nails and component parts to maintain continuous production.

• Operate and run the automated nailing machine, monitoring the vibratory feed system to ensure nails and parts are correctly orientated and positioned ahead of each punch cycle.

• Set up and adjust the machine to the correct product specification to ensure nails are driven accurately, consistently, and to the correct depth into each part.

• Monitor the quality of finished parts, carrying out regular checks on nail placement, depth, and part integrity to ensure standards are maintained.

• Carry out small Total Productive Maintenance (TPM) tasks, including cleaning, lubrication, and visual inspection of the machine, to maintain reliability and extend equipment life.

• Carry out small Planned Maintenance (PM) tasks, including the replacement of simple wear parts in line with maintenance schedules and manufacturer guidance.

• Identify and report machine faults, wear, or abnormalities to the Team Leader or maintenance team promptly to minimise downtime.

• Communicate with the Team Leader regarding production issues to enable prompt resolution.

• Role model behavior to other members of staff to support a positive and consistent team culture.

• Ensure that the required nails, parts, and consumables are in place and stock levels and kanbans are maintained to support production output.

• Work in conjunction with other departments to ensure health and safety compliance.

• Carry out manual handling tasks safely within the workplace, including the safe loading and handling of nails and parts.

• Ensure production outputs are achieved on time and in full.

• Maintain a safe working environment, including keeping machine guards and safety devices in place at all times.

• Separate all waste products into their designated containers for safe disposal.

• Maintain excellent time keeping to meet production requirements.

• Comply with company and statutory Quality, Health and Safety, Environmental and other policies and procedures.

• Identify areas of improvement within your area, promoting continuous improvement activities, to help eliminate waste and improve safety, engagement & efficiency.

About You

• Able to conduct quality checks for visual, dimensional, and fit and function tests.

• Able to identify and troubleshoot common machine faults, escalating where necessary.

• Demonstrates the potential for problem solving, critical thinking, and analytical skills, and is willing to engage in practical tasks and projects to further develop their skills.
