OB Laborist

Job Summary and Responsibilities

As our OB Laborist physician, you will join our dynamic healthcare team in Federal Way, specializing in diagnosing and treating a wide array of women’s health cases, making a significant impact on their lives and families.  We pride ourselves in practicing high quality, evidence based, and patient centered medicine.

 

You will provide compassionate and expert care, conducting thorough assessments, developing individualized treatment plans, and collaborating with a multidisciplinary team to support the holistic well-being of our patients and their families within Franciscan Medical Group.

 

To be successful in this role, you will be a skilled, board-certified, and compassionate OB/GYN physician, possessing expertise in diagnosing and managing complex Women’s Health disorders, alongside strong communication abilities. You will also demonstrate a deep commitment to patient-centered care and the capacity to thrive within a collegial and supportive environment. 

• Full-time position based at St. Francis Hospital in Federal Way, WA, a 124 bed Level III trauma center.  

• Join 5 OB/GYN physicians, 6 CNM’s and 2 APP’s at this location.  

• Schedule requirements include approximately (7) 24 hour on-site shifts per month for a total of 91 shifts per year.  Duties include providing 24 hour on-site labor and delivery coverage, collaboration with CNM’s and ED coverage for GYN emergencies/surgeries.  

• The group does approximately 120 deliveries per month.  

• Our group enjoys a mix of both gynecology and obstetrics – including high risk obstetrics.   Typical case mix includes vaginal deliveries, cesarean sections, D&C and laparoscopy.  

• St. Francis has a special care nursery capable of caring for infants as young as 32 weeks.  Our partner facility, St. Joseph Medical Center has a Level III NICU and is in close proximity for transfers if needed.  We also have a partnership with Seattle Children’s for specialty newborn care if needed.

• VMFH Women’s Health Service line includes 6 MFM’s, 1 Urogynecologist and 2 Gynecologic Oncologists.  

• Federal Way is located along the Puget Sound Inlet and shadowed by the majestic Mount Rainier in the Seattle-Tacoma metro area.

Job Requirements

Required

 

• Doctor of Medicine (MD) or Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine (DO) degree from an accredited institution

• Board certification or eligibility in OB/GYN

• Active or eligible license in the state of Washington

• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to effectively interact with patients and healthcare professionals

• Ability to work collaboratively in a team-oriented environment

• Commitment to providing high-quality, compassionate care to patients and families
