Responsibilities

Responsibilities:

• Acts as a liaison and consultant to Nursing, Biomed, Plant Operations, and Perfusion, etc., to ensure that all areas of overlapping responsibility are maintained appropriately (i.e. tissue storage & disposition, blood warmers, cell savers, refrigerators, freezers).
• Prepares and reviews blood utilization repo;Participates in Proficiency Testing Programs and reviews remediate's when necessary to ensure that all analytes are blindly tested at the required intervals ( i.e.3x/yr for most tests).rts.  Prepares surgical guidelines protocol based on blood usage and submits to the Laboratory Director.
• Ensures that all technical and administrative activities of Transfusion Services & Immunohematology are in accordance with established rules and regulations of the laboratory and outside governing agencies.
• Demonstrates knowledge and openly reinforces established hospital and laboratory safety protocols.
• Identifies, evaluates, recommends, and validates new methodology and instrumentation.

Requirements:

• NYS Clinical Laboratory Technologist license
• Knowledge of federal and state regulations and guidelines
• Bachelor degree plus 4 years minimum clinical experience                            
• MS plus 2 years minimum clinical experience
• Basic proficiency in Microsoft applications including Word, Outlook, and Excel
• Excellent communication skills and attention to detail
• Participates in the "on-call" schedule and extended shift coverage

Pay Range

USD $64.83 - USD $81.00 /Hr.
