Position Summary
Trinity Health Oakland Hospital is seeking a skilled and patient-focused Endoscopy Technician to support our Endoscopy team. In this role, you will be responsible for the cleaning, testing, high-level disinfection, and proper storage of endoscopes and related equipment, while also assisting physicians and nursing staff during endoscopic procedures. The ideal candidate will have experience in endoscopy, strong technical skills, and a commitment to delivering exceptional patient care.
Key Responsibilities
- Clean, test, disinfect, and maintain endoscopes and procedural equipment according to manufacturer and regulatory guidelines.
- Perform leak testing and operate high-level disinfection equipment.
- Assist physicians and nursing staff during endoscopic and surgical procedures.
- Prepare and assemble equipment and supplies using proper sterile technique.
- Transport instruments to Central Sterile Processing for sterilization.
- Complete required quality, compliance, and equipment documentation.
- Assist with specimen collection, patient preparation, and basic bedside care under RN supervision.
- Monitor equipment functionality and communicate maintenance needs.
- Support a safe, patient-centered environment aligned with Trinity Health values.
Qualifications
Required
- High school diploma or GED.
- Completion of a Central Sterile Processing course or one (1) year of endoscopy scope processing experience.
- Minimum one (1) year of experience assisting with endoscopy procedures.
- Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.
Preferred
- Certification through AAMA, AMT, NHA, NCCT, or related healthcare credentialing organization.
- Knowledge of medical terminology, EMR systems, and Microsoft Office.
- Strong communication, customer service, troubleshooting, and organizational skills.
