At Blue Origin, we envision millions of people living and working in space for the benefit of Earth. We’re working to develop reusable, safe, and low-cost space vehicles and systems within a culture of safety, collaboration, and inclusion. Join our team of problem solvers as we add new chapters to the history of spaceflight!

This role supports the development and operations of New Glenn, a single-configuration, heavy-lift orbital launch vehicle capable of routinely carrying people and payloads to low-Earth orbit, geostationary transfer orbit, cislunar, and beyond. Its first stage is fully reusable, and the vehicle was designed from the beginning to be human-capable.

Job Description

As part of a hardworking team of specialists and engineers, you will support the development and operations of New Glenn, a single-configuration, heavy-lift orbital launch vehicle capable of routinely carrying people and payloads to low-Earth orbit, geostationary transfer orbit, cislunar space, and beyond. Its first stage is fully reusable, and the vehicle was designed from the beginning to be human-capable. You will be responsible for managing the New Glenn avionics product lifecycle, including product development and qualification, new product introduction (NPI), sustaining production, and avionics test support. This position closely resembles a Technical Project Manager role, with an emphasis on production engineering and the complete avionics hardware lifecycle. You will work closely with Integrated Product Team leadership, internal operations teams, Supply Chain, and external manufacturing partners to mature products for production and deliver hardware within schedule and budget.

Special Mentions

• Travel expected up to 20% of the time

Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

• Partner with Integrated Product Team leadership to integrate product concepts and requirements, manage manufacturing design artifacts, and align product execution with program technical and business objectives.

• Lead avionics product development and new product introduction (NPI) activities through planning, execution, performance monitoring, gated reviews, production transition, and closeout.

• Develop and maintain end-to-end, logic-linked product schedules covering dependencies, critical paths, phase transitions, and alignment with the integrated master schedule.

• Define production strategies and priorities that align supplier execution, procurement, internal assembly, testing, integration, and hardware demand with program requirements.

• Coordinate with manufacturing, integration, operations, and Supply Chain teams to develop and release statements of work (SOWs), specifications, Supplier Data Requirements Lists (SDRLs), End Item Data Packages (EIDPs), and other production artifacts.

• Plan and coordinate hardware procurement, long-lead and test hardware orders, budgets, delivery schedules, and qualification activities with contract manufacturers, test facilities, and internal teams.

• Monitor supplier performance, capacity, cost, quality, and delivery execution; serve as a primary technical point of contact; address risks and bottlenecks; and incorporate design-for-manufacturability and design-for-test feedback.

• Support make-versus-buy analyses, should-cost assessments, competitive sourcing strategies, supplier selection, and supplier relationship management to improve cost, schedule, capacity, and quality.

• Manage product scope changes, deviations, nonconformances, engineering change requests, failure documentation, cross-functional actions, risks, and schedule adjustments to support uninterrupted hardware delivery.

• Lead process improvements and documented handoffs to Supply Chain and Operations, including production and inventory reporting, workflow optimization, command media updates, automation, and artificial intelligence tools.

Minimum Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering, electronics engineering, aerospace engineering, mechanical engineering, manufacturing engineering, or another relevant engineering field.

• 6+ years of experience developing, manufacturing, introducing, testing, or sustaining complex electronic products, including printed circuit board assemblies and electronic enclosures.

• Project management experience or formal training, with demonstrated success planning and executing complex projects involving cross-functional product development teams and external manufacturers.

• Experience planning, fabricating, testing, and delivering complex electronic hardware, including managing and analyzing datasets, budgets, cost estimates, and product performance metrics using Microsoft Excel or similar tools.

• Demonstrated ability to develop, communicate, and execute logic-linked schedules using Microsoft Project, Primavera P6, or similar tools, supported by strong analytical, organizational, problem-solving, and detail-oriented skills.

• Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to influence without direct authority, hold partners accountable, and demonstrate resourcefulness, customer focus, ownership, and a bias for action.

• Must be a U.S. citizen or national, U.S. permanent resident (current Green Card holder), or lawfully admitted into the U.S. as a refugee or granted asylum.

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience developing aerospace electronic products across the complete production lifecycle for multiple released products.

• Experience with NPI, production readiness reviews, supplier management, hardware qualification, and the transition from development into rate production.

• Familiarity with applicable IPC board and harness development standards and an understanding of Class 2 versus Class 3 circuit card design trade-offs.

• Experience with electronic product development and program management tools, including Primavera P6, DOORS or DNG, Altium, Creo, Windchill, manufacturing resource planning systems, and production reporting tools.

• Experience with DFX reviews, make-versus-buy analyses, should-cost modeling, long-lead procurement, EIDPs, nonconformance management, engineering change management, and supplier data deliverables.
