Summary:
The HR Generalist supports day-to-day human resources functions across the organization and serves as a resource to employees and managers. This position is responsible for supporting recruitment, onboarding, employee relations, performance management, benefits administration, training and development, compliance, and HR programs.
The ideal candidate is a hands-on HR professional who can effectively manage multiple priorities, build strong relationships across departments, and support a growing and evolving organization.
Requirements
Essential Duties:
- Supports the full recruitment process, including job postings, candidate screening, interview coordination, offers, pre-employment requirements, and onboarding.
- Coordinates new hire onboarding and orientation to ensure a positive employee experience.
- Serve as a resource to employees and managers regarding HR policies, procedures, benefits, and workplace concerns.
- Assists with employee relations matters, including coaching, counseling, investigations, corrective actions, and documentation.
- Supports performance management processes, including performance reviews, goal setting, coaching, and performance improvement plans.
- Administers employee changes, including promotions, transfers, compensation changes, and terminations.
- Assists with benefits administration, enrollment, employee questions, and communication with benefit providers.
- Maintains accurate and confidential employee records and HRIS information.
- Supports training and employee development initiatives.
- Assists with employee engagement, recognition, retention, events, and company culture initiatives.
- Helps prepare HR reports and track key HR metrics, including turnover, headcount, recruiting activity, and employee trends.
- Supports compensation and market analysis as needed.
- Assists with the development, implementation, and communication of HR policies and procedures.
- Ensures compliance with applicable federal, state, and local employment laws and company policies.
- Performs other HR-related duties and special projects as assigned.
Education:
- Bachelor’s Degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or a related field.
- PHR, SHRM-CP, or similar HR certification preferred but not required.
Experience:
- Minimum of 3 years of experience in Human Resources or HR related field.
- Bi-lingual, English/Spanish preferred.
Location:
Killam Development., Ltd is located Laredo, Texas; this is an in office position based at our office in Laredo, all applicants will be required to relocate, if necessary.

Licenses/Certifications:
Must have a current valid driver’s license and a satisfactory driving record.
Physical Requirements:
Must be able to perform the following physical activity on a frequent to constant basis:
- Sit for long periods of time.
- Lift 10–20 lbs. of files, plans, office supplies, or similar items.
- Constantly uses fingers and hands when dialing/answering the telephone and operating a computer or other office machinery, such as a copy machine, scanner, and computer printer.
- Ability to hear average or normal conversations and receive ordinary information through verbal communications in person or detect objects in and around job site over the telephone.
- Average, ordinary visual acuity is necessary to prepare or inspect documents; operate a computer or other office machinery; or.
- Walk short distances on slippery, even, and/or uneven surfaces.
- Stand, bend, stoop, kneel, crouch, twist, turn, or crawl.
Working Conditions:
- Majority of work is performed in an office atmosphere located inside a building with no hazardous or significantly unpleasant conditions.
- May require infrequent job site visits involve performing work in outdoor weather conditions with exposure to extreme cold, heat, and noise depending upon project site.
- May travel during the workday.
