Role Summary
The Junior Project Manager supports the successful implementation of business change projects across the Clearing business.
The role supports the coordination of project implementation from start to finish – and acts as the single point of coordination for smaller projects and defined workstreams – partnering with the business throughout to ensure sustainable handover to business-as-usual (BAU) at project close.
The Junior Project Manager is a hands-on organiser and doer, who is both:
An organiser, who helps ensure there is a plan, that it is deliverable, and that it gets done to expected timescales; and
A practical facilitator, who helps make change happen and make change stick - who partners with people to adapt their everyday work.
Responsibilities
As a Junior Project Manager you will be asked to support one or multiple projects at a time, as allocated by the Change Management Office, working with the guidance of senior project managers and taking end-to-end ownership of smaller projects and workstreams
For each allocated project:
- Project Manage delivery to achieve completion as quickly and effectively as possible, with accountability to:
- Develop the project plan – identify, scope and schedule project deliverables
- Drive progress to plan (time, cost and quality) through active monitoring, adjustment, communication and escalation:
- Run status reviews and working groups / steering groups as required;
- Control changes to the plan;
- Manage dependencies, risks, costs and resources;
- Identify and resolve issues, including by escalating issues to the right people and tracking follow-up; and
- Act as the central communication point for stakeholders, identifying who needs to know what, when and making this happen.
- Drive actions to adapt the business so it sustains new ways of working post project go-live:
- Ensure the project’s required implementation “end state” is defined;
- Identify what business changes will be required to reach this “end state”, including people-related factors like buy-in and capabilities;
- Manage delivery of these changes to realise the “end state”– for example, broker relationships, implement new processes/technology, run trials/prototypes, run training, etc.
- Support the Business Manager to run reporting and manage resources across a portfolio of change projects, by providing:
- Project data / information as required
- Capacity estimates / data
As required:
Build and share knowledge of project management, change management and implementation, for example by: Transferring knowledge, templates and lessons learned as part of closing down each allocated project at completion.

Skills and Experience:
- Preferably degree educated or with equivalent experience, with a genuine interest in project and change management
- Strong written and verbal communicator, adept at relationship-building
- Proactive problem-solver who is tenacious at chasing down actions and resolutions to completion
- Desirable - Professional qualifications in project management and/or change management from a recognised body such as APMG, PRINCE2, etc. – or actively studying towards one
- Desirable – an awareness of project management methodologies such as waterfall and Agile
- Desirable – an awareness of change management theory and practice
- Desirable – knowledge of financial services, ideally clearing, exchange-traded derivatives or post-trade services
- Some prior experience (circa 1–2 years, which may include internships, placements or graduate rotations) in a project, PMO, operations or clearing environment, with a demonstrable project mindset
- Experience supporting business change projects involving people, process and/or technology changes
- Desirable – experience of implementing new products / new business projects, especially in financial services
- Strong Microsoft Office skills (Excel, PowerPoint, Word) and the ability to produce clear, high-quality project documentation and reporting
- Desirable – experience working in a regulated environment and an awareness of the risk and compliance requirements associated with this.
