Technology & Infrastructure (T&I) is the backbone and the future-forward arm of CBC/Radio-Canada. Our purpose is to constantly innovate to evolve and maintain the Corporation’s technology and infrastructure. We are the people that make stuff work. We make connections between media content, systems, people and places. We are the space in between.
A place with purpose. CBC/Radio-Canada has always been a highly regarded pioneer of media technology — not just in Canada but around the world. Today, we are transforming ourselves into a modern and agile public service media organization. Technology is the driving force, and we are the team making it happen.

Your Role
At CBC/Radio-Canada, the Technology & Infrastructure Rapid Innovation Pod is an agile, cross-functional unit dedicated to accelerating the co-development of emerging technologies. Our mission is to explore technology pathways critical to our strategic goals and drive knowledge sharing across flagship projects.
As a technology leader and seasoned expert, you will spearhead the exploration of emerging technologies through rapid prototyping and proofs of concept (PoCs), ensuring a seamless transition to full implementation. As an influential strategic advisor and active contributor to international working groups, you will shape the organization’s technical future through inspiring mentorship and cutting-edge expertise.
Your Responsibilities
Strategic Leadership, Influence and Industry Networking
- Strategic Planning: Shape the strategy for innovation pipelines and advise leadership on disruptive opportunities, while providing agile technical counsel on major projects to anticipate future needs.
- Executive Engagement: Present, explain and advocate for innovation initiatives, platform concepts and major procurement proposals to leadership, working in close collaboration with the Director of Co-Innovation.
- International Collaboration and Standardization: Officially represent the Corporation on industry committees and standards bodies (e.g., EBU, AMWA, JT-DMF, SMPTE) to influence future industry developments.
Scope, Technical Direction and Agile Experimentation
- Rapid Prototyping and Design: Design, build and model practical, innovative solutions — including complex prototypes and PoCs — applying disruptive technologies to address strategic business needs nationally.
- Experimentation Scoping: Partner with business units to define clear project scope, deliverables and timelines for each innovation sprint.
- Agile Iteration Management: Proactively manage scope creep and resolve technical roadblocks to maximize the value-to-effort ratio during experimentation.
- Technical Leadership and Oversight: Provide technical guidance within the team, and lead and mentor analysts.
Technical Integration and Knowledge Transfer
- Cross-Departmental Support and Guidance: Act as the primary technical liaison for integrating systems with emerging technology dependencies, offering high-level guidance across departments.
- Advanced Technical Expertise: Resolve complex technical roadblocks and provide technical evaluations for major initiatives, including target architecture reviews and large-scale RFPs.
- Knowledge Sharing: Structure, document and disseminate experimental findings and advanced expertise across delivery teams and the broader organization to ensure seamless handoffs.
Continuous Improvement
- Process Optimization: Identify opportunities to refine our rapid experimentation frameworks (Agile) and optimize collaboration tools (Jira/Confluence) to boost team velocity.
What You Bring
