Description
The Enterprise Services and Public Affairs (ESPA) team's mission is to enhance how our internal and external stakeholders — including colleagues — perceive and experience Citi by protecting the reputation of the firm, its businesses and the brand. The Global Communications team is an agile, high-impact group that nimbly covers a broad scope of responsibilities ranging from executive communications to corporate culture and reputation.
Our team thrives in a fast-moving, intellectually curious and solution-oriented environment. If you bring a client-oriented mindset, excellent judgment, a passion to learn and a great sense of humor, you'll fit right in.
About the Role
We're looking for an experienced and driven Vice President to join our Citi Services Communications team. The individual in this role will be responsible for developing and executing holistic, proactive, and strategic communications plans for Citi's rapidly growing Services franchise. This role will ensure there is consistent, clear, and concise messaging including executive communications, social media profile building and engagement, media interviews, and internal messaging to colleagues.
The ideal candidate will bring experience in corporate or financial communications, thrive in a fast-paced environment that supports one of the world's leading services franchises and be able to translate complex subject matter into compelling storylines that will resonate within the market.
As a core pillar of Citi's business, the Services division provides a comprehensive and leading suite of solutions to corporations, financial institutions, and public sector organizations globally. Our business delivers capabilities across five core areas: Payments and Receivables, Liquidity Management Services, Trade and Working Capital Solutions, Investor Services, and Issuer Services. Citi's Services business is an integral part of the firm's ability to provide end-to-end solutions for the world's leading institutions, navigating high-profile topics like digital assets, AI, and the future of e-commerce.
This role sits at the intersection of corporate reputation, executive positioning, and strategic communications, providing critical support to the Services leadership team.
Responsibilities:
As a key member of the Services Communications team, you will play a pivotal role in shaping and executing internal and external communications strategies. Your responsibilities will include:
Proactive Media Engagement: Drive a sophisticated media relations program by cultivating and maintaining strong relationships with key financial and business journalists. Manage proactive and reactive media engagement, including developing compelling story ideas, pitching and securing high-impact coverage, preparing executives for interviews, and acting as a key spokesperson for the Services business.
Cross-Functional Collaboration: Partner with internal teams, subject matter experts, marketing, and peer communications teams to drive communications initiatives – from strategic planning and project management to execution and amplification across Citi channels internally and externally.
Executive Social Media Strategy: Manage the LinkedIn presence and broader social media strategy for key Services executives. This includes drafting and posting compelling content, collaborating with internal teams to source content and imagery, and monitoring engagement trends to optimize presence and impact.
Internal Communications: Develop and execute a high volume of internal communications, including leadership emails and memos, Hub updates, newsletters, digital signage, town hall coordination, and coverage of key business milestones—ensuring clarity, consistency, and alignment across the Services organization.
Conference & Industry Engagement: Provide hands-on support for high-profile enterprise-wide events, such as Sibos and Money 20/20. Responsibilities include developing talking points, coordinating media engagement, creating internal briefing materials, and managing post-event follow-through.
Strategic Narrative Development: Support a broader leadership footprint by increasing storytelling demand, requiring the alignment of narratives across leaders, businesses, regions, and platforms on key topics such as digital assets, AI, tariffs, and e-commerce.
Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree in business management, communications, marketing, or another related field.
6+ years of relevant experience in corporate communications, preferably within a global company or agency. Financial services experience, particularly with knowledge of payments, liquidity, trade, and treasury, is a plus.
Proven track record of developing and executing successful communications strategies for senior executives.
Strong business understanding with the ability to execute independently without constant escalation.
Strong relationships with members of the media, particularly financial and business journalists.
Experience managing executive social media presence and owned channel content.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to tailor messages to a range of internal and external audiences and handle rapid turnaround times.
Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, high-pressure environment, with demonstrated sound judgment and decision-making skills during crises.
Strong project management and organizational skills, including the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously and meet tight deadlines.
Proactive, detail-oriented, and highly organized, with a strong work ethic and a positive attitude.
