We are looking for a qualified Afterschool Pre-K Teacher to help design and implement an afterschool program for pre-k students onsite in their school, Monday through Friday from 2:30pm to 5:30pm, every day that public schools are in session. The program will operate separately from, but within the context of a comprehensive afterschool program for school-age children in the same location. Our programs are dedicated to supporting the social and emotional learning of participants by providing choice-based activities that empower student voices, and delivery methods that develop compassion, understanding and kindness. The pre-k teacher will work with the program director, education specialist, and a teaching assistant to develop a varied schedule for a group of 12-14 children each day.


Pay Rate

$50-$60 per hour


Duties and Responsibilities

  • Develop a careful and creative program suitable for preschool children
  • Employ a variety of educational techniques (storytelling, educational play, media etc.) to teach children
  • Observe each child to help them improve their social competencies and build self-esteem
  • Encourage children to interact with each other and resolve conflicts positively
  • Guide children to develop their artistic and practical capabilities through project-based learning
  • Ensure they are safe at all times
  • Organize snack, rest, and play times, including coordinating gym use for physical activities
  • Track children’s progress and report to the program director
  • Collaborate with other educators
  • Maintain a clean and tidy classroom consistent with health and safety standards

Requirements

  • Proven experience as a Teacher of preschool age children
  • Excellent understanding of the principles of child development and preschool educational methods
  • Familiarity with safety and sanitation guidelines for classrooms
  • Excellent communication and instructional skills
  • Ability to act as mediator between children
  • Cool-tempered, friendly and reliable
  • Certification in child CPR
  • BS/BA in education or relevant field
