Overview of Role
The Avaloq Expert will have a varied and hands-on role working with the Business to understand their requirements and translate them into IT solutions using the Avaloq platform. As a member of a small squad within the Core Banking team, it is important that the candidate shows flexibility, proactivity and responsibility.
Key Responsibilities
Business Interaction - Collaborate closely with business stakeholders to understand processes and identify opportunities for improvement through effective and pragmatic Avaloq parameterization solutions.
Requirements Analysis - Analyze and visualize complex business requirements using a structured and methodical approach, translating them into clear documentation and enhancements within the Avaloq framework.
Project Delivery - Design and implement technical solutions independently or in collaboration with internal IT teams and external partners.
Parameterization - Translate functional specifications into Avaloq system configurations using a broad range of parameterization capabilities to meet business needs, including:
Enhancing workflows, context actions, order validations, and static data
Setting up rules across various rule engines
Developing and enhancing business reports
Configuring the messaging framework to integrate with surrounding systems
Supporting business users through application support, knowledge transfer, and system adoption
Testing - Plan and execute testing activities and support releases, ensuring comprehensive coverage of business scenarios and use cases.
Problem Management - Contribute to continuous system improvement through incident analysis, root cause identification, and implementation of sustainable solutions.
Experience, Skills and Competencies Required
Certified Avaloq Professional with at least 4-5 years of recent hands-on parameterization experience.
Strong understanding of the Avaloq core system, its underlying concepts, and module interactions, with expertise across multiple Avaloq modules and a willingness to expand into new areas.
Proven expertise in back-office domains (COAC, SETTLE); familiarity with accounting, fees, taxation, interfaces, and local regulatory requirements, including tax regulations and regulatory reporting. Experience with German and UK regulatory frameworks is advantageous.
Solid understanding of relational databases (Oracle), including debugging, failure analysis, and Avaloq/Oracle error handling in a banking environment.
Ability to understand business processes and commercial concepts and collaborate effectively with business stakeholders.
Experience with testing, business continuity management, and the creation of clear documentation, proposals, and presentations.
Excellent written and spoken communication skills in English.
Advanced understanding of AI-driven tools and their application to improve development practices, automate tasks, and increase efficiency and quality.
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with a proactive mindset, ownership, and a focus on quality.
