PT Lumberjack Safety Technician (HCC Student position - see details in description)

Under general supervision, functions as a safety technician performing a variety of technical duties of moderate complexity as appropriate to the diverse operations and specialized procedures involved in the HCC Lumberjacks team practice. Hiring 1 student position to work during the Fall 2026 academic semester with the Haywood Lumberjacks Team. Students must be on the team and able to work flexible hours, including weekends. Work is performed in and around the JM West Center.

• Maintain clean and safe practice conditions
• Follow and enforce all rules as outlined in the HCC Lumberjack team safety handbook
• Instruct new team members in the implementation of safe practices and the rules of the events
• Performing general safety audits
• Supervising students in an open practice setting
• Assist with the coordination of practice and events
• Performs other duties and responsibilities as required

Required: 
At least one semester of experience on the HCC Lumberjacks Team. At least one semester of enrollment at Haywood Community College. Recommendation from the HCC Lumberjacks Team manager. Candidate must be eligible to drive HCC vehicles.

Preferred: 
Student is currently enrolled in a natural resources program. At least one year of experience on the HCC Lumberjacks Team.

*Completion of the HCC safety and first aid training will be required before the Safety Technician begins in their role.
