Job Details:

Purpose

The WCP Student AV Tech supports audiovisual operations within the WCP by providing technical assistance for meetings, programs, and events held throughout the facility. This position sets up, operates, and troubleshoots a variety of audiovisual and multimedia equipment, including projectors, microphones, speaker systems, theatrical lighting, and related technology. The Student AV Tech also serves as an on-site point of contact during events, assisting clients and staff with audiovisual needs and helping ensure equipment and event spaces are prepared and operating effectively.

Responsibilities

  • Set up and/or operate multimedia and audiovisual equipment for educational programs, live performances, meetings, and recorded events.

  • Provide timely and courteous support to users of audiovisual and media systems, including troubleshooting and routine equipment maintenance.

  • Operate the lighting systems for the Black Box Theater and Auditorium.

  • Prepare audio equipment for client use.

  • Assist with audiovisual and media production and equipment installations as needed.

  • Maintain equipment security and accurate, current inventory records.

  • Perform other related duties as assigned.

Required Qualifications

  • Must be a current student at The University of Texas at Austin and meet the University's student employment eligibility requirements, including enrollment in at least six (6) semester credit hours, unless otherwise eligible under University policy.

  • Entry-level experience with audiovisual equipment setup and basic maintenance, with an interest in continuing to develop technical skills.

  • Ability to provide courteous and effective customer service.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Knowledge of performance facility lighting systems or familiarity with ETC Eos lighting control systems.

  • Experience operating complex lighting systems, concert audio equipment, and speaker systems.

  • Ability to work effectively with individuals from a variety of backgrounds and experiences.

  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.

  • Ability to explain technical audiovisual information clearly to individuals with little or no A/V experience.

  • Basic computer proficiency.

Salary Range

$12.00 per hour
