Position Summary:
The Accounting Specialist II will operate under general supervision, utilizing independent judgment to perform a variety of accounting duties. The role is responsible for executing tasks according to established procedures, methods, and systems, ensuring accuracy and compliance with relevant guidelines. This role will involve handling financial transactions, maintaining records, and assisting in the preparation of financial reports. By applying expertise and attention to detail, the Accounting Specialist II will contribute to the efficiency and effectiveness of the accounting department, supporting its goals and objectives.
Duties/Responsibilities include but are not limited to:
- Processing Accounts Payables, reviewing invoices to ensure they are correctly coded and authorized
- Entering and reconciling pre-paid expenses, subsidiaries, and fixed assets
- Maintaining accurate credit union accounting records with adequate documentation and timely reconcilement of general ledger accounts
- Analyzing and reconciling general ledger accounts as assigned
- Processing daily settlements (Alloya, NMS, MMS, VISA, ATM/Debit, Shared Branching & Foreign Item Processing)
- Processing member paper payrolls
- Processing monthly insurance product billing
- Researching and resolving deposit chargebacks, cash advances, non-image deposit items
- Electronic filing of invoices and documentation
- Processing member research requests
- Researching and assisting in teller errors and document retrieval
- Processing incoming and outgoing wires, both domestic and international
- Courteous and prompt service to both external members and internal team members as defined by living and demonstrating the core values of the credit union
- Reviewing all activities for compliance with Bank Secrecy Act / Anti-Money Laundering / Office of Foreign Assets Control regulations and participate in annual training as required by the BSA/OFAC Compliance Officer
- Assisting in month end closing process
- Assisting in quarterly Call Report submission
- Other duties as assigned

Requirements
Qualifications/Key Competencies:
- 2 years of accounting, accounts payable, or financial institution experience, or equivalent
- Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite; highly proficient in Excel
- General knowledge of credit union / banking back-office processes, preferred
- Aptitude for handling member / co-workers’ issues effectively and professionally
- Teamwork oriented with the ability to work in a highly detailed and deadline driven environment
- Sound communication skills, both verbal & written
