Join our team and help young people thrive through music
Music on Sea (MOS) is passionate about providing inspiring musical opportunities for children and young people across Southend-on-Sea. We are looking for a welcoming, organised and proactive Community Music Support Assistant (CMSA) to support the smooth running of our community music centres and help create a positive experience for children, families and tutors. This contract is offered on a part time (5 hours a week) and permanent basis. You will be responsible for welcoming families, managing sign-in and sign-out procedures, processing registers and attendance information, coordinating children during non-teaching periods, and sharing important information from the central Music on Sea team. You will also support tutors with venue arrangements, health and safety procedures, fire evacuations and the safe dismissal of children at the end of sessions.
The role includes supporting performances and events throughout the year and working closely with tutors, families and colleagues to ensure the highest standard of service delivery.
Working Pattern
This role is currently scheduled for approximately 5 hours per week during term time, with sessions taking place at:
- Mondays: Southend Music Centre (currently Southend High School for Boys), 4:10pm to 6:40pm
- Saturdays: Southend Academy of Music (currently Earls Hall Primary School), 9:10am to 12:10pm
Venue locations and session times may change with at least one term's notice.
There may also be opportunities for additional paid hours to support performances and events throughout the year.
NB: The advertised salary will be pro rata to 5 hours a week and term time.
What you'll need to succeed
To be successful in this role, you will be an organised and approachable individual with excellent communication and customer service skills. Strong organisational skills, attention to detail and the ability to manage multiple tasks are essential. We are looking for someone who can build positive relationships with children, families and colleagues, adapts well to changing priorities and demonstrates professionalism, integrity and teamwork in everything they do.
