Description of Work
The locksmith position is responsible for the total locksmith program including the maintenance of Murdoch Developmental Center’s master keying systems and the related lock system of the Butner Office Complex. Routine tasks performed by this position include the repair and installation of locks (door, cabinet, drawer, file, etc.), door maintenance as related to the proper closure of fire doors, maintains records of key issuances, maintains the integrity and security of the keying system by screening key requests. This position requires a thorough understanding of the mechanical principles of the locksmith trade. Campus-wide master keying systems, consultants in the design, modification, or additions to keying systems.ALL employees of Murdoch Center are designated as ESSENTIAL for adverse weather and emergency events.

Recruitment Range $33,902.00 - $59,327.00

The Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities (KSAs)/ Management Preferences are not required. Applicants who possess the following skills are preferred:
• Some experience in carpentry work or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
• Some skill in the use of tools, materials and equipment commonly used in the performance of carpentry work
• Valid Driver’s License
• Experience in commercial/industrial maintenance environment
• 2 years’ experience in carpentry work; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
Normal working hours are 7:00a.m. - 3:30p.m. Monday-Friday

High School or General Education Development (GED) diploma and three years’ experience in the repair or replacement of locks, including experience in the layout of major keying systems, or equivalent required. Necessary Special Qualifications Pursuant to GS 74F, all employees in this job class must be licensed as a locksmith by the NC Locksmith Licensing Board.EEO Statement
