Lead Software Engineer – C# / .NET / Engineering & Manufacturing Systems
Hayward, California
Up to $180,000 USD + Benefits
Permanent | Full-Time
Lead Software Engineer – C# / .NET
YourCode Recruitment is working with an innovative, technology-led organisation that is transforming the way homes are designed, manufactured and constructed.
We're looking for an experienced Lead Software Engineer to take technical ownership of software platforms that connect engineering, manufacturing and factory operations.
This is not a traditional Software Engineering Manager position.
You'll remain highly hands-on while taking responsibility for software architecture, technical direction and delivery. You'll build APIs, integrations, data infrastructure and internal applications that allow engineering and manufacturing information to move seamlessly from design through to production.
For a senior engineer who enjoys solving complex real-world problems and wants their software to have a tangible impact on physical products and manufacturing operations, this is a particularly interesting opportunity.
What You'll Be Doing
You'll lead the development and evolution of software supporting engineering and manufacturing workflows, including:
-
Designing scalable software architecture and technical solutions
-
Remaining hands-on with software development using a Microsoft/C#/.NET technology stack
-
Building APIs, integration services and internal software platforms
-
Developing data infrastructure connecting engineering and manufacturing systems
-
Connecting BIM, CAD, PLM, MES, ERP and other engineering platforms
-
Building tools that improve the flow of data from design through fabrication and factory execution
-
Developing internal applications and workflow automation
-
Improving interoperability, data quality and system reliability
-
Using AI-enabled development tools to accelerate prototyping, testing, documentation and delivery
-
Identifying opportunities for AI-assisted engineering and manufacturing workflows
-
Supporting deployment, monitoring, testing, CI/CD and production reliability
-
Providing technical direction to external development partners
-
Helping shape the future internal software engineering function as the team grows
You'll work closely with Engineering, Manufacturing, Product, Quality, Construction and Operations teams.
What We're Looking For
We're particularly interested in candidates with:
-
7+ years of software engineering/development experience
-
Strong C# / .NET development experience
-
Previous technical leadership experience
-
Hands-on software architecture experience
-
API and systems integration experience
-
Experience designing scalable applications and data infrastructure
-
Cloud experience, ideally AWS
-
CI/CD, automated testing and modern software engineering practices
-
Strong understanding of software reliability, monitoring and production support
-
Experience working with technical and non-technical stakeholders
Importantly, we're looking for someone who still wants to build.
This isn't a role for someone looking to move completely away from coding into people management.
Particularly Relevant Backgrounds
Experience developing software within any of the following would be highly relevant:
-
Manufacturing
-
Construction Technology / ConTech
-
Engineering
-
Industrial Automation
-
Factory / Production Systems
-
MES
-
CAD / BIM
-
PLM
-
Industrialised or Modular Construction
Experience with Revit, SOLIDWORKS, Ignition MES or similar engineering/manufacturing platforms would be advantageous but isn't essential.
Why Join?
This is an opportunity to take significant technical ownership at the intersection of software engineering and the physical world.
Rather than developing another standalone SaaS product, you'll build systems that directly influence how products are designed, manufactured and ultimately constructed.
You'll have the opportunity to influence architecture, technology choices, engineering standards and the future growth of the software team.
Salary & Benefits
Salary up to $180,000 USD depending on experience, with some flexibility for an exceptional candidate.
The wider benefits package includes:
-
Medical, dental and vision insurance
-
401(k) with matching contributions
-
Paid vacation, sick leave and holidays
-
Life insurance
-
Short and long-term disability insurance
-
Pre-tax commuter account
-
Subsidised EV charging
-
Professional growth and development opportunities
Location
Hayward, California.
