Bolster: Bringing brands to life where people shop, gather, work and play
Founded in 2010, Bolster is a creative and experiential design firm recognized among the top 35 retail design agencies in the United States. We thrive at the intersection of strategy and execution, creating cohesive brand experiences that extend from the screen, to the page, to the physical environment.
Our team partners with leading brands across retail, fashion, sports, beauty, financial services, healthcare, wellness, food & beverage, and franchising to create engaging experiences that inspire action and build lasting connections.
Your Opportunity: Bolster, a Taylor company, is looking for a temporary Product Development & Fabrication Specialist who is equal parts engineer, maker, and problem solver.
We're seeking someone who is naturally curious, relentlessly driven, and passionate about bringing big ideas to life. Someone who asks questions, explores possibilities, obsesses over details, and is excited by the challenge of turning ideas into real-world impactful brand experiences.
You'll join a team of Experience Makers, Brand Builders, and Storytellers made up of designers, strategists, and production specialists. Together, we create everything from visual identities and marketing campaigns, to in-store environments, signage systems, retail experiences, and branded spaces.
In this role, you'll collaborate with creative leaders, marketers, engineers, project managers, and clients to develop thoughtful, innovative solutions across print, digital, and physical environments. You'll have the opportunity to contribute to every phase of the creative process—from discovery and ideation, to design development and execution. As a Product Development & Fabrication Specialist you will play a pivotal role in product fabrication, leveraging your engineering expertise to drive innovation, efficiency, and manufacturability within our Design & Marketing Agency. This position is ideal for a hands-on engineer who thrives in a creative and fast-paced environment, collaborating closely with design, marketing, and production teams to turn concepts into high-quality, manufacturable products.
Work Authorization: To be considered for the Taylor opportunities, candidates must be authorized to work in the United States without the need for employer sponsorship.
Your Responsibilities:
- Product Fabrication Leadership: Guide the design and development process to ensure manufacturability, quality, and cost efficiency.
- Technical Consultation: Act as an internal consultant to advise cross-functional teams on materials, processes, and engineering best practices.
- Prototyping & Testing: Oversee prototype development, conduct performance evaluations, and iterate designs based on testing results.
- Process Optimization: Identify opportunities to streamline production workflows, enhance quality control, and reduce costs.
- Supplier & Vendor Collaboration: Work closely with external partners to source materials, refine fabrication methods, and maintain production standards.
- Compliance & Standards: Ensure that all fabricated products meet industry regulations, company guidelines, and client expectations.
- Innovation & Research: Stay updated on emerging fabrication technologies, materials, and engineering methodologies to drive continuous improvement.
- Training & Knowledge Sharing: Provide technical guidance and mentoring to junior engineers, designers, and other stakeholders.
You Must Have:
- Education: Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, or a related field.
- Experience: 3-5 years of experience in product fabrication, manufacturing, or engineering within a design-driven industry.
- Technical Skills: Proficiency in CAD software (SolidWorks, AutoCAD, or equivalent), rapid prototyping, and fabrication techniques.
- Industry Knowledge: Understanding of marketing-driven product development, branding considerations, and material selection for fabricated products.
- Problem-Solving: Strong analytical and troubleshooting skills, with a proactive approach to resolving engineering challenges.
- Collaboration: Excellent communication skills, with the ability to bridge the gap between design creativity and engineering feasibility.
- Adaptability: Comfortable working in a dynamic, fast-paced environment with evolving project requirements.
We Would Also Prefer:
- Experience in consumer product fabrication, retail displays, packaging engineering, or experiential marketing installations.
- Familiarity with digital manufacturing, CNC machining, 3D printing, and emerging fabrication technologies.
- Background in sustainability and eco-friendly material applications.
The anticipated hourly range for this position is $35-$40. The actual base offered depends on a variety of factors, which may include as applicable, the qualifications of the individual applicant for the position, years of relevant experience, specific and unique skills, level of education attained, certifications or other professional licenses held, and the location in which the applicant lives and/or from which they will be performing the job.
