The Division of Hematology & Medical Oncology is the largest division within the Knight Cancer Institute, comprising more than 110 faculty members across programs in general hematology, solid tumor oncology, hematologic malignancies, blood and marrow transplantation and cellular therapy, and palliative medicine. The Division is committed to delivering exceptional patient care, advancing clinical and translational research, and providing access to innovative therapies and high-quality clinical trials.

Function/Duties of Position

 

The successful candidate will join the Adult Blood & Marrow Transplant & Cellular Therapy Programs within the Division of Hematology & Medical Oncology and will contribute to OHSU's missions of patient care, education, research, outreach, and public service.

 

Clinical Care

  • Provide comprehensive outpatient and inpatient care for patients undergoing blood and marrow transplantation and cellular therapies.
  • Manage the care of patients receiving allogeneic and autologous hematopoietic cell transplants.
  • Care for patients receiving immune effector cell therapies, including CAR T-cell therapy and other cellular immunotherapies.
  • Participate in shared on-call coverage for the transplant and cellular therapy service.
  • Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to optimize patient outcomes through case conferences and coordinated care planning.

Teaching & Mentorship

  • Participate in the education and training of fellows, house staff, medical students, and advanced practice providers.
  • Coordinate and lead teaching rounds on inpatient and outpatient services.
  • Foster a collaborative learning environment that promotes excellence in patient care and professional development.

Research & Scholarly Activity

  • Participate in the development, implementation, and conduct of clinical trials.
  • Collaborate with clinical research, data management, and registry teams to support research initiatives and regulatory requirements.
  • Contribute to scholarly activities that advance the field of blood and marrow transplantation and cellular therapy.

Program & Community Engagement

  • Build and maintain collaborative relationships with referring physicians, healthcare organizations, and community partners.
  • Support programmatic growth and excellence within the Adult Blood & Marrow Transplant & Cellular Therapy Programs.
  • Contribute to departmental, divisional, and institutional initiatives in support of OHSU's mission.

 

This position is primarily clinical, providing outstanding patient care within OHSU’s nationally recognized Blood and Marrow Transplant and Cellular Therapy Program. Faculty with an interest in research will have opportunities to engage in translational and clinical research initiatives within transplantation and cellular therapy.

 

Required Qualifications

  • MD OR MD/PhD
  • Minimum of one year of experience serving at the Associate Professor or Professor level.
  • Licensed to practice medicine in Oregon
  • Board certified in Internal Medicine
  • Board eligible/certified in Hematology and or/Medical Oncology

Preferred Qualifications

  • Demonstrates the background, focus and drive to excel, as well as the desire to deliver the best care possible to cancer patient in a clinical research environment
  • Proven success in collaboration with multi-disciplinary teams, history of success in obtaining extramural funds for clinical trials and/or basic science research.
