Description
Essential Job Functions & Responsibilities:
- Conduct field investigations and analyze failures involving all types of civil-site built environments and infrastructure for large scale land developments, master planned communities, mixed used projects, commercial and industrial projects, roadway and utility, and streetscape enhancements
- Evaluate design/construction-related deficiencies associated with grading and drainage, stormwater management and conveyance, underground utility systems and installation, erosion control, concrete flatwork, asphalt pavements, and hardscape systems
- May investigate matters involving:
- design of site-visibility at intersections, vehicular use areas, parking lots, pedestrian and vehicular ingress/egress ways
- the applicability of MUTCD and ADA standards
- preparation, permitting, and construction implementation of civil/site construction plans related to DOT, water management districts, and various municipalities
- municipal zoning and variance hearings
- code, regulations, and standards interpretation and application.
- Stormwater management quantity and quality design, above and below ground
- Floodplain delineation
- Stormwater collection and conveyance systems
- Sediment and erosion control design and inspections
- Hydrology and hydraulics design
- Site grading design
- Development processes during design and construction
- Close out procedures of land development projects
- Failure modes of infrastructure systems
- Conduct unbiased investigations for various types of clients
- Responsible for retention and development of client relations
- Prepare oral and written reports in layman's terms that document causes of failure, extent of loss, and recommended remediation
- Deliver professional presentations, develop client relationships and promote self to client groups
- Ability to support conclusions by appropriate expert testimony in legal proceedings
- Maintain professional and technical knowledge by attending educational workshops; reviewing professional publications; establishing personal networks; participating in professional societies
- Ability to accept and integrate constructive feedback into job performance
- Regular and predictable presence at work
- Other related duties as assigned
Position Requirements:
- Bachelor's Degree in Civil Engineering required
- Minimum of five (5) years of civil/site development experience
- P. E. (Professional Engineer) registration required through testing
- Must possess strong writing skills
- Public speaking experience a plus
- Exceptional interpersonal and communication skills
- Proficient with the following is a plus:

Physical Requirements:
- Ability to travel on a variable schedule, including 50% of the time locally and 20% of the time overnight
- Ability to lift 50 lbs.
- Ability to climb ladders and inspect roofs
- Ability to carry equipment to and from job sites
- Ability to work at various heights on structures
- Ability to maneuver in and around buildings and in confined spaces
- Ability to effectively communicate verbally and in writing
- Ability to effectively communicate with clients and colleagues
- Ability to drive in all conditions
- Ability to fly on airplanes
- Ability to visually inspect job sites and relevant artifacts
- Ability to wear personal protective equipment as required by the work site
- Ability to learn a new industry and obtain required certifications
- Ability to handle occasional long workdays and non-traditional hours
