Job Summary

A glazing contractor opening a new shop in Columbus, Ohio is seeking an experienced Lead Glazier to help build a core team serving commercial projects throughout Central Ohio. This leadership role requires a highly skilled glazier who can lead field crews while performing all aspects of commercial glazing, including the installation of storefront systems, curtain walls, doors, windows, and architectural glass. The ideal candidate has strong technical knowledge, excellent leadership abilities, and a commitment to safety, quality workmanship, and mentoring apprentices.

Job Duties

  • Lead and supervise glazing crews on commercial construction projects.
  • Read and interpret blueprints, shop drawings, and project specifications.
  • Coordinate daily work activities to ensure projects are completed safely, efficiently, and on schedule.
  • Install curtain wall systems, storefronts, entrances, architectural aluminum, glass, mirrors, automatic doors, and related glazing systems.
  • Measure, cut, fabricate, and install glass and aluminum framing systems.
  • Ensure all installations are plumb, level, watertight, and meet quality standards.
  • Operate and maintain hand tools, power tools, lifts, scaffolding, and other equipment safely.
  • Mentor and train apprentices and less experienced glaziers.
  • Maintain OSHA compliance and promote a safe work environment.
  • Communicate effectively with project managers, foremen, contractors, and customers.

Requirements

  • Minimum five (5) years of lead commercial glazing experience preferred.
  • Proven experience installing storefront, curtain wall, and architectural aluminum systems.
  • Ability to read and interpret blueprints and shop drawings.
  • Strong leadership, communication, and problem-solving skills.
  • Working knowledge of OSHA safety standards and safe work practices.
  • Must possess basic glazing hand tools.
  • Ability to operate lifts, scaffolding, saws, grinders, caulking equipment, and other glazing tools.
  • Reliable transportation and ability to travel throughout the Central Ohio area as needed.
  • Must be able to pass a pre-employment drug screen.
