Job Summary
The Assistant Manager, Patient Access oversees daily operations of the Patient Access team to ensure accurate registration, financial intake, service standards compliance, and an exceptional patient experience across the system.
Job Functions
- Oversee daily Patient Access operations, staffing, productivity, and service standards compliance. *
- Keeps Patient Access Manager and Director informed of Service Standard goals, performance evaluations and disciplinary issues as well as other related statistical data or issues involving the Patient Access team.
- Is responsible for completing regular quality audits on Patient Access team to ensure accurate patient registration, insurance verification, documentation, and charge entry. *
- Lead point-of-service collections and support patient financial discussions.*
- Prepares work schedules and coordinates/assigns daily duties to staff. Ensures employees comply with attendance guidelines and timecards reflect an accurate record of time. *
- Is responsible for coordinating all necessary training for patient access team, coaching, and timely completion of Performance evaluations. *
- Conduct quality audits, monitor trends, and implement process improvements.*
- Coordinate with Nursing, Scheduling, and Revenue Cycle teams to support patient flow.*
- Keeps Patient Access SOPs up to date and recommends and documents agreed upon process improvements to ensure maximum efficiency of team. *
- Participate in a rotational on-call schedule to ensure timely leadership support needs, including evenings, weekends, and holidays as assigned. *
- Employee is responsible for attending all mandatory educational, compliance and safety program sessions. *
- Employee understands and demonstrates the importance of satisfying the needs of the patient/customer by interacting with him/her in a friendly and caring way, being attentive to the customer's needs, both psychologically and physically, and by taking the initiative to maintain communication with the customer in order to provide a secure and pleasant experience throughout the System.

Education / Experience Qualifications
Required:
- High school diploma or equivalent; minimum three years healthcare, billing, or revenue cycle experience.
Preferred:
- Supervisory experience and medical terminology knowledge.
