Job Description - Senior Offshore Structural Engineer

Title: Senior Offshore Structural Engineer

Company: KBR - Inhouse Engineering

Location: Abu Dhabi, UAE - KBR Office

Key Consideration:

Preference will be given to candidates holding valid OPITO-approved T-BOSIET/BOSIET and H₂S certifications with a minimum validity of six months. The selected candidate may be required to travel to ADNOC offshore facilities as required to support site surveys, field verification, inspection data review, brownfield structural assessments, modification checks and collection of project-specific engineering data for existing offshore assets.

Job Purpose

  • Perform and check fixed offshore structural assessment, reassessment, modification, strengthening and life-extension engineering for existing offshore wellhead platforms, jackets, topsides, bridges, flare structures and associated brownfield facilities.
  • Develop safe, verified and constructible engineering solutions based on existing records, survey findings, inspection data and operating-facility constraints.
  • Provide engineering input, checking and technical coordination to ensure structural deliverables meet approved design intent, project requirements, applicable codes and site execution constraints.

Key Responsibilities

  • Review existing drawings, calculations, reports, SACS models, inspection records, anomaly registers, survey data and modification history.
  • Validate, update or reconstruct SACS models for as-built geometry, corrosion loss, marine growth, damage, piles/foundations and previous modifications.
  • Define load cases and combinations; interpret metocean, geotechnical, weight-control and installation inputs.
  • Perform and check member, joint, deck, support, connection, pile and foundation checks and prepare calculation notes and analysis reports.
  • Perform and check applicable in-place, pre-service, transportation, load-out, lifting, fatigue, seismic, dynamic response, pushover/RSR, accidental load, blast/fire where applicable, pile/foundation and structural integrity assessments.
  • Assess aging structures, anomalies, deterioration, undocumented changes, cut-outs, penetrations and new attachments; recommend monitoring, repair, strengthening or acceptance.
  • Prepare technical queries, engineering sketches, assessment reports and strengthening/modification concepts.
  • Review structural drawings for compliance with calculations, design intent, constructability and project/site constraints; mentor junior engineers and designers.

Experience

  • 10 - 12 years of relevant oil and gas structural engineering experience, including at least 5 years of fixed offshore experience.
  • Experience across Concept Select, FEED, Detailed Engineering, EPC and brownfield modification phases.
  • Experience with fixed offshore platforms, jackets, topsides, bridges, flare structures, wellhead towers, supports and associated brownfield structural modifications.
  • ADNOC Offshore or comparable Middle East brownfield experience is preferred; advanced hands-on SACS model validation and checking experience is required.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree in Civil or Structural Engineering.
  • Master's Degree in Structural or Offshore Engineering is advantageous.

Technical Skills

  • Strong experience with fixed offshore assets including jackets, topsides, wellhead towers, bridges, flare structures, supports and brownfield modifications.
  • Advanced hands-on capability to build, update, validate and check SACS models for fixed offshore analysis and reassessment.
  • Ability to perform and check RSR, fatigue, seismic, pile/foundation, dynamic response and accidental-load assessment scopes where applicable.
  • Strong understanding of structural integrity, aging facility assessment, anomaly interpretation, corrosion/damage assessment and remaining-life studies.
  • Working knowledge of ADNOC Offshore specifications, API RP 2A-WSD/LRFD, ISO 19900/19901/19902, AISC 360, AWS D1.1 and DNV practices where applicable.
  • Strong technical reporting, drawing review, TQ/comment resolution, structural weight support, multidisciplinary coordination, HSSE and safety-in-design awareness.

What We Offer:

  • Opportunities for professional development and career advancement.
  • Engaging and collaborative work environment with a commitment to safety and sustainability.
