Job Purpose

To lead and oversee the Bank’s Secured Financing business encompassing Auto Finance and Mortgage portfolios, with overall accountability for portfolio growth, profitability, asset quality, customer experience, operational effectiveness, and regulatory compliance.

The role is responsible for formulating and executing strategic plans, strengthening portfolio performance, driving product innovation, enhancing operational efficiency, developing strategic partnerships, and ensuring sound risk governance across the secured financing business.

Job Responsibilities

1. Strategy, Financial Performance & Portfolio Management

  • Develop and execute the overall Secured Financing strategy encompassing Auto Finance and Mortgage businesses.
  • Own and manage the overall Profit & Loss (P&L), portfolio growth, profitability, market share, and balance sheet performance.
  • Establish annual business plans, budgets, portfolio targets, and strategic initiatives aligned with the Bank’s objectives.
  • Monitor and optimise portfolio profitability, pricing strategies, risk-adjusted returns, and cost efficiencies.
  • Oversee portfolio composition, asset quality, delinquency trends, impairment levels, and recovery strategies.

2. Product, Partnerships & Market Development

  • Provide strategic direction on the development and enhancement of secured financing products across conventional and Islamic financing solutions.
  • Ensure product competitiveness through market intelligence, customer insights, and competitor analysis.
  • Establish and strengthen strategic partnerships with vehicle dealers, property developers, real estate agencies, business alliances, insurance providers, and other ecosystem partners.
  • Drive initiatives to enhance customer acquisition, portfolio retention, and market presence.
  • Represent the Bank in industry engagements with regulators, industry associations, and strategic partners.

3. Operations, Technology & Customer Experience

  • Oversee end-to-end secured financing processes, ensuring operational efficiency and service excellence.
  • Drive process improvements, automation, and digital transformation initiatives to enhance customer experience and turnaround time.
  • Ensure effective governance and enhancement of Loan Origination Systems (LOS) and supporting digital platforms.
  • Strengthen data governance, reporting capabilities, and business analytics to support informed decision-making.
  • Champion customer-centric initiatives across all secured financing touchpoints.

4. Risk, Governance & Compliance

  • Ensure full compliance with Bank Negara Malaysia regulations, internal policies, governance frameworks, and Shariah requirements where applicable.
  • Maintain effective risk management practices to safeguard portfolio quality and sustainable growth.
  • Work closely with Credit, Risk, Compliance, Operations, and Asset Quality Management teams to strengthen controls and governance.
  • Oversee the implementation of KYC, AML/CFT, sales conduct, and regulatory compliance requirements.
  • Ensure policies, procedures, and business practices remain aligned with regulatory expectations and risk appetite.

5. Leadership & Stakeholder Management

  • Act as the senior management representative for the Bank’s Secured Financing business.
  • Provide strategic insights, portfolio updates, and recommendations to senior management and relevant committees.
  • Foster collaboration across Community Banking, Credit, Risk, Operations, Technology, Finance, Marketing, and other key stakeholders.
  • Lead, develop, and coach the Head of Auto Finance, Head of Mortgage Business, and broader leadership team.
  • Drive succession planning, talent development, and a high-performance culture across the division.

Job Requirements

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Business, Finance, Economics, Banking, or a related discipline.
  • Professional banking or financial services qualifications will be an added advantage.
  • Minimum 15 years of banking experience with significant exposure in Auto Finance, Mortgage Financing, Consumer Lending, or related secured financing businesses.
  • Minimum 8–10 years in senior leadership roles with accountability for business performance, portfolio management, and strategic execution.
  • Proven track record in driving portfolio growth, profitability, and asset quality.
  • Experience managing large-scale business portfolios and multi-functional teams.
  • Strong knowledge of Auto Finance, Mortgage Financing, Consumer Banking, and Retail Lending.
  • In-depth understanding of credit risk management, portfolio management, regulatory requirements, and governance frameworks.
  • Strong commercial acumen with proven P&L management capability.
  • Strategic thinking with the ability to drive transformation and organizational growth.
  • Strong stakeholder management, negotiation, and influencing skills.
  • Excellent analytical, communication, and leadership capabilities.
