Senior General Liability Claims Examiner - Remote

Position Overview

Our client, a well-established insurance organization, is seeking an experienced Senior General Liability Claims Examiner to join its claims team. This position will be responsible for managing a complex caseload of General Liability claims from initial assignment through resolution, including coverage analysis, investigation, evaluation, negotiation, and settlement.

The ideal candidate will have strong technical claims expertise, excellent judgment, and experience handling moderate to complex General Liability losses, including litigated matters. Compensation Package

Salary: $80,000 - $90,000 per year (depending on experience) + bonus opportunities

Key Responsibilities

• Manage an assigned inventory of General Liability claims from first notice through final resolution.
• Investigate claims by reviewing statements, medical records, reports, photographs, contracts, and other relevant documentation.
• Analyze liability, coverage, damages, and potential exposure to determine appropriate claim strategies.
• Handle both litigated and non-litigated claims, including coordinating with defense counsel as appropriate.
• Establish appropriate indemnity and expense reserves and continually reassess reserves based on developing claim information.
• Evaluate liability and damages and develop appropriate settlement strategies.
• Negotiate settlements with claimants, attorneys, insureds, and other involved parties.
• Identify coverage issues and make appropriate recommendations regarding coverage positions.
• Maintain accurate claim files and ensure documentation complies with internal guidelines and applicable regulations.
• Collaborate with underwriting, legal, risk management, and other internal departments as needed.
• Monitor litigation, including discovery, mediation, depositions, and settlement conferences.
• Identify potentially high-exposure or complex claims and escalate appropriately.
• Ensure claims are handled in accordance with company procedures, regulatory requirements, and applicable state laws.

Qualifications/Requirements

• 5+ years of property & casualty claims experience, with significant experience handling General Liability claims.
• Strong technical knowledge of General Liability coverage, liability investigation, and claims handling practices.
• Experience managing complex and/or litigated claims.
• Strong understanding of applicable state laws, regulations, and claims practices.
• Demonstrated ability to evaluate liability and damages and make sound claim decisions.
• Strong negotiation, analytical, organizational, and communication skills.
• Ability to manage a significant caseload while maintaining accuracy and attention to detail.
• Experience working with defense counsel and managing litigation preferred.
• Bachelor's degree preferred, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
• Professional designations such as AIC, CPCU, or ARM are a plus.
