Description


We are looking for an experienced Shift Supervisor to lead and develop our operational team, ensuring the safe, efficient, and cost-effective running of day-to-day activities across the shift. This is a key leadership role, responsible for driving performance, maintaining high standards, and ensuring customer and business requirements are consistently achieved.

You will lead by example, creating a positive and engaged team culture while overseeing production, quality, safety, delivery, and performance within your area of responsibility. Working closely with the wider operations team, you will ensure resources are effectively planned and utilised to maximise productivity, maintain quality standards, and support the achievement of business objectives.

Health, Safety and Environmental standards will be at the forefront of everything you do, ensuring compliance with company policies, industry regulations, and thyssenkrupp best practices.

As Shift Supervisor, you will be accountable for delivering and exceeding agreed SQCDP (Safety, Quality, Cost, Delivery and People) KPIs, while promoting and embedding thyssenkrupp's values throughout your team.

You will also work collaboratively with the other Shift Supervisors and site leadership team to organise labour and equipment resources, drive continuous improvement initiatives, and support the ongoing development of both people and processes across the operation.

Shift Pattern

Monday-Friday alternating shifts

Week 1 - 6am - 2pm
Week 2 - 2pm - 10pm



Key Responsibilities

  • Planning and organising labour and resources across the shift to ensure workloads are completed safely, efficiently, and on time.
  • Leading and supporting your team to maximise productivity, performance, and operational efficiency.
  • Ensuring products and processes meet customer specifications, quality standards, company procedures, and regulatory requirements.
  • Monitoring production performance and implementing actions to address any issues affecting safety, quality, cost, delivery, or people performance.
  • Supporting the development, implementation, and continuous improvement of work instructions, standard operating procedures, and workplace standards.
  • Ensuring standard working practices are followed across all operational activities, including workflow management, work-in-progress levels, cycle times, and process compliance.
  • Maintaining and updating the local SQCDP boards, ensuring performance measures are visible, accurate, and action-focused.
  • Conducting daily shift briefings to communicate priorities, safety messages, performance updates, and progress against agreed targets.
  • Driving a culture of continuous improvement, identifying opportunities to enhance productivity, quality, safety, and operational performance.
  • Promoting and maintaining high standards of Health, Safety, Environmental, and housekeeping practices across the shift.
  • Coaching, developing, and motivating team members to support engagement, capability development, and succession planning.



Skills, Knowledge and Expertise


We're looking for an experienced people leader with a strong operational mindset and a passion for driving performance, safety, and continuous improvement. You'll be confident leading teams in a fast-paced manufacturing, production, logistics, or operational environment, with the ability to build strong relationships, hold teams accountable, and create a culture focused on safety, quality, delivery, and people development. You'll be commercially aware, results-driven, and capable of balancing customer requirements with operational efficiency while getting the very best from your team.

Essential skills and experience:
  • Previous leadership or supervisory experience within a manufacturing, production, logistics, or operational environment
  • Proven ability to lead, motivate, and develop teams to achieve performance targets
  • Experience planning labour and resources to meet operational demands and customer requirements
  • Knowledge of SQCDP, Lean Manufacturing, Continuous Improvement, or similar operational excellence methodologies
  • Strong understanding of Health & Safety regulations and safe working practices
  • Experience monitoring and improving operational performance against key performance indicators (KPIs)
  • Ability to identify and resolve operational issues while maintaining productivity and quality standards
  • Strong communication skills with the ability to engage and influence people at all levels
  • Excellent organisational skills with the ability to manage competing priorities in a fast-paced environment
  • Experience conducting team briefings, performance reviews, and day-to-day people management activities
  • Computer literate with experience using Microsoft Office and operational systems
  • Experience implementing standard operating procedures and workplace standards
  • Understanding of production planning, workflow management, and resource utilisation
  • Experience supporting change initiatives and process improvement projects
