Description
Job Title: Inpatient Phlebotomist (Phlebotomy Technician)
Job Summary: We are seeking a skilled and reliable Inpatient Phlebotomist to join a high-quality laboratory team. Utilizing state-of-the-art laboratory instrumentation under the direction of board-certified pathologists and clinical laboratory technologists, you will perform high-accuracy blood collection procedures across diverse inpatient populations to support chemistry, hematology, blood transfusion, and microbiology testing.
Key Responsibilities:
- Blood Specimen Collection: Perform routine and urgent venipunctures and capillary punctures on hospitalized patients while following strict identification and safety protocols.
- Laboratory Support: Process, label, and prepare blood samples for diagnostic testing across various departments (Chemistry, Hematology, Transfusion Services, and Microbiology).
- Patient Care & Safety: Ensure patient comfort and safety during blood collection procedures and maintain high standards of specimen integrity.
- Documentation & Compliance: Accurately log specimen collection times and patient data into the laboratory information system.
Qualifications & Requirements:
- Clinical Experience: Minimum of 2+ years of dedicated inpatient phlebotomy experience [Required].
- Certifications: Active Basic Life Support (BLS) certification through the American Heart Association (AHA) [Required]. (Nationally recognized Phlebotomy certification preferred).
- Travel Experience: Prior healthcare travel contract experience [Preferred].
- Core Competencies: Excellent venipuncture techniques, strong attention to detail, efficiency in fast-paced clinical environments, and exceptional patient-interaction skills.
