Summary
The Manager, Strategic Finance & Market Analytics, working in collaboration with and in support of the firm’s strategic initiatives, will serve as a strategic finance and market intelligence leader, translating client profitability, competitor analysis and financial analysis into actionable recommendations for firm leadership. The role will support growth decisions for senior firm leadership (including but not limited to where the firm should invest and how to improve returns from clients, markets, partners, and teams). The role partners closely with the Sr Analyst, Business Intelligence & Analytics for data preparation and analysis and with the Revenue Management team for Practice Group storytelling and recommendations.
Location
This position can sit in our New York, Short Hills, Reston, or Austin office and offers a hybrid work schedule.
Responsibilities
Provide strategic investment planning support to Vertical leads, Head of Global Finance Committee. Practice Group leadership and Business Development leadership.
Collaborate with the Business Intelligence & Analytics team to define data requirements and convert analytical outputs into business recommendations.

Collaborate with the Revenue Management team for Practice Group storytelling and performance analysis.
Lead client profitability analysis, including leverage, staffing mix, matter economics, and opportunities to improve performance.
Assess markets, practices, industries, and client segments to identify where the firm should focus growth efforts.
Develop financial models and business cases for lateral partners, lateral teams, market entry, and other strategic investments.
Analyze peer-firm performance, surveys, external benchmarks, and legal-market trends to identify competitive gaps and opportunities.
Translate quantitative findings into clear recommendations for firm leadership, Practice Group Leaders, and Vertical Leaders.
Support strategic planning, scenario analysis, and prioritization of growth initiatives.
Partner with Finance, Business Development, Pricing, Talent, and Data Analytics to align assumptions, data, and decisions.
Partner with the Senior Analyst, Business Intelligence & Analytics to create dashboards, data models, KPI frameworks, automated reporting, and/or executive scorecards to enable clear recommendations.
Lead and develop a team of Financial Analysts, creating a scalable market intelligence capability including direct oversight of a Senior Financial Analyst, Market Analytics and Financial Analyst, Lateral Investments.
Establish consistent analytical standards, workplans, and executive deliverables across market intelligence and strategic finance projects.
Desired Skills
Strong analytical, quantitative, and problem-solving skills, with the ability to synthesize complex data into concise business insights and recommendations. Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to create executive-ready materials and tailor messaging to finance, business, and leadership audiences. Proficiency in Microsoft Suite, including data analysis, dashboarding, data visualization, and/or planning tools. Demonstrated ability to manage multiple priorities, work independently, meet deadlines, and thrive in a fast-paced, high-expectation environment. Collaborative, growth-oriented mindset with the judgment, patience, and credibility to serve as a mentor to analysts and build trusted working relationships across finance and business teams.
Relevant background may include McKinsey, Bain, BCG, Big Four advisory, investment banking, corporate strategy, or law-firm competitive intelligence. Strong financial modeling, market research, business-case development, and scenario-analysis skills. Demonstrated ability to synthesize complex information into concise, executive-ready recommendations. Strong stakeholder management and communication skills, including comfort working with senior leaders.
Travel Requirements: Up to 10%, depending on location and business needs. May be expected to travel to the Reston, VA, Short Hills, NJ, and New York City offices for meetings.
Minimum Education
Bachelor's Degree in Finance, Accounting, Statistics, Business Administration, Economics, Data Science, Computer Science, or a related field.
Preferred Education
Master's Degree.
Certificates
CFA, FPAC, FMVA.
Minimum Years of Experience
5 years’ experience in strategic finance, corporate development, management consulting, commercial strategy, or competitive intelligence. Two+ years' experience in managing a team either in FP&A, corporate finance, strategic finance, or business analysis, ideally with experience in oversight of revenue, margin, profitability, or capacity/headcount analysis.

Work Environment

The firm’s expected hiring range for this position is $124,167 - $172,003 per year depending on the candidate’s geographic market location.
The compensation offered for employment will also be dependent on other factors including the candidate’s experience, skills, educational and professional background, and overall qualifications. We offer a comprehensive package of benefits, including medical/dental/vision insurance, and 401(k).
