Summary

A healthcare services/products company is seeking a Billing Director to lead and oversee its billing function.

The role requires strong healthcare billing expertise, leadership experience, and the ability to manage a busy department, work through complex billing situations, and continuously improve how the function operates.

Responsibilities

• Lead the day-to-day billing function and oversee a team of billers

• Train, mentor, and manage staff while driving accountability and strong performance

• Oversee billing workflows from submission through payment and resolution

• Manage complex billing issues, denials, discrepancies, and escalations

• Track billing activity, outstanding items, collections, and key departmental metrics

• Work closely with the CFO on billing performance, challenges, trends, and areas requiring attention

• Evaluate and improve billing processes, controls, and workflows

• Drive optimization of billing software and systems to improve accuracy, efficiency, and visibility

• Coordinate with internal departments to address documentation, operational, or other issues impacting billing

• Ensure the team stays on top of deadlines and follows issues through to resolution

• Identify recurring problems and implement solutions to improve overall department performance

Requirements

• Strong healthcare billing experience and knowledge

• Prior experience leading and managing a billing team

• Strong leadership skills with the ability to train, mentor, and hold staff accountable

• Comfortable navigating complex billing issues and escalations

• Strong systems and process mindset

• Ability to push things forward and drive issues to resolution

• Highly organized and able to perform effectively under pressure
