Schedule: 1–4 days per week, based on program needs

Do you have a passion for cooking, food, creativity, and working with children?
APEC Afterschool Enrichment is seeking an enthusiastic and experienced Culinary Enrichment Instructor to introduce elementary-aged students to the fundamentals of cooking and food preparation through fun, hands-on, educational experiences.
The ideal instructor will create engaging culinary lessons that allow students to explore cooking techniques, nutrition, food science, kitchen safety, cultural foods, and creativity while developing practical life skills.
Key Responsibilities
- Plan and facilitate engaging, age-appropriate culinary lessons for elementary-aged students.
- Teach students basic cooking and food-preparation skills in a safe and structured environment.
- Introduce age-appropriate concepts related to:
- Kitchen and food safety
- Basic cooking techniques
- Nutrition and healthy eating
- Measuring and following recipes
- Food preparation and presentation
- Food science
- Cultural foods and traditions
- Kitchen tools and equipment
- Provide hands-on opportunities for students to prepare simple foods and recipes.
- Encourage students to participate, collaborate, and develop confidence in the kitchen.
- Adapt recipes and activities to accommodate different ages, skill levels, and abilities.
- Maintain a clean, organized, and sanitary instructional environment.
- Closely supervise students during all food preparation and cooking activities.
- Follow all applicable APEC health, safety, sanitation, and supervision requirements.
- Provide required culinary materials, ingredients, supplies, and equipment unless otherwise approved by APEC.
- Communicate professionally with APEC site leadership and follow all program policies and procedures.
- Arrive prepared and on time for each scheduled session
Requirements
- Have experience in culinary arts, cooking, baking, nutrition, hospitality, food education, or a related field.
- Have experience teaching, coaching, facilitating, or working with children preferred.
- Demonstrate the ability to effectively engage and manage groups of elementary-aged students.
- Demonstrate strong knowledge of food safety and proper food-handling practices.
- Be able to develop age-appropriate, interactive culinary experiences.
- Demonstrate strong communication, organization, patience, creativity, and professionalism.
- Be comfortable working with students with varying levels of culinary experience.
- Provide a curriculum and lesson/activity plans for approval prior to beginning services.
- Provide or coordinate the necessary ingredients, culinary equipment, and instructional materials.
- Successfully complete all required APEC onboarding requirements.
- Successfully pass a criminal records check and fingerprint-based background check.
- Follow all APEC safety, supervision, and program expectations.
