Job Title: Fire Protection Specialist
Department: Environmental Health & Safety Team
Shift: Core Business hours are Monday-Friday, 8am-5pm
Direct Report: Fire Protection Sr. Specialist
Type: Exempt; Full-time
About the position
We are looking for a reliable Fire Protection Specialist to coordinate, support, and actively participate in all matters related to fire detection and suppression systems for the Tennessee plant complex. This includes partnering with engineering and other contract support to identify issues, evaluate alternative solutions, and provide recommendations to project management and site leadership. Ensure adequate design, installation, and maintenance of life safety systems. To partner closely with authority to ensure timely project execution.
Responsibilities are:
- Oversee the successful execution of our fire detection and suppression system projects
- Develop project plans and schedules, ensuring timely completion of projects within budget
- Visit construction site to review building design and determine fire protection system requirements and potential problems
- Manage installation by regular site visits to monitor progress, resolve issues, and provide guidance to installation technicians
- Provide advice to designers, builders, and other construction personnel on fire prevent equipment and techniques
- Review planning, programming, architectural, and engineering design documents, specifications, and other technical documents to validate compliance with codes and standards
- Authority having jurisdiction interface for permitting and/or inspection
- Be responsible for managing multiple projects simultaneously, ensuring that they are delivered on time, within budget, and according to our quality standards
- Collaborate closely with cross-functional team including project managers, general contractors, engineers, estimators, installation technicians, and authority having jurisdiction to ensure seamless project coordination and successful project outcomes
- Participate in weekly project meetings onsite or online with global team
- Develop submittal packages for review, approvals and permitting
- Manage project documentation and identify change orders
- Perform other duties as assigned by management
Requirements are:
Education:
- (Required) high school diploma or GED
Experience:
- (Required) 3+ years of relevant experience
Language:
- (Required) good command of written and spoken English
Skills & Knowledge:
- Administration and Management - Knowledge of business and management principles involved in strategic planning, resource allocation, human resources modeling, leadership technique, production methods, and coordination of people and resources
- Personnel and Human Resources - Knowledge of principles and procedures for personnel recruitment, selection, training, compensation and benefits, labor relations and negotiation, and personnel information systems
- Law and Government - Knowledge of laws, legal codes, court procedures, precedents, government regulations, executive orders, agency rules, and the democratic political process

Physical Demands:
- Must be able to frequently move about the manufacturing plant campus, general office environments, production areas, and occasionally ascend/descend stairs
- Must be able to remain in a stationary position 50% of the time
- Must be able to operate a computer and other office productivity machinery
- Must be able to position self to file documents including the top and bottom drawers of file cabinets
- Must be able to occasionally move office equipment and supplies weighing up to 25 pounds
