Job Summary

We are seeking an experienced power systems expert with hands-on industrial experience in complex power system modeling and analysis. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in microgrid applications and demonstrated expertise in modeling, analysis, and developing solutions for grid integration challenges.

In addition to serving as an individual contributor, this role will lead a highly skilled, agile team of local experts while coordinating closely with global teams to leverage their extensive knowledge base and capabilities. Success in this position requires seamless collaboration across regions and effective utilization of global resources.

This position is part of Delta’s broader Microgrid ecosystem. The workload is expected to be evenly split between team leadership (50%) and individual technical contributions (50%). The role involves local travel and occasional international travel.

Key Responsibilities

Leadership & Team Development

  • Lead a team of experienced power systems experts and foster a culture of collaboration and excellence
  • Manage short- and mid-term competency development plans aligned with local needs and global capabilities
  • Develop the team to become the recognized authority on power systems within Delta North America

Collaboration & External Engagement

  • Collaborate effectively with local and global teams to achieve common company objectives
  • Interface with system experts on the customer and utility side to ensure alignment and technical excellence
  • Leverage external resources and university partnerships to enhance innovation and knowledge sharing

Technical Execution

  • Build system models and perform stability, harmonics, and transient analysis using industry-standard tools
  • Validate simulation results through hardware-in-the-loop testing
  • Deliver accurate and reliable system models for internal and external stakeholders
  • Ensure quality of results and take ownership of progress and deliverables

Capability Building

  • Strengthen team expertise in protection and control, distribution automation, system interconnection, and contingency management

Individual contribution

  • Individually contribute to complex tasks and lead by example for approximately ~ 50% of the time

 

Minimum Qualifications

Education

MS degree in Power Systems

Experience

  • 10+ years of industrial experience in Appliances, Electrical, and Electronics Manufacturing in North America
  • Proven track record of managing complex, cross-regional projects and leading technical teams
  • Experience working in global team setups within large multinational organizations
  • Direct leadership experience or influence-based leadership in technical roles

Domain Expertise

  • In-depth knowledge of North American electrical power systems, including:
  • Communication protocols
  • System layouts
  • Modeling and analysis tools
  • Familiarity with grid electrical system codes and standards
  • Basic understanding of protection coordination, faul contingency analysis, and impact assessment

Industry Interaction

  • Close collaboration experience with utilities and system-solution integrators
  • Ability to interface with customers and stakeholders on technical solutions

Technical Skills

  • Proficiency in power system simulation tools: ETAP, PSS®E, DIgSILENT PowerFactory, PSCAD, EMTDC, SKM PowerTools, and MATLAB/Simulink, etc.

Soft Skills

  • Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to work with cross-functional and cross region teams

Preferred Qualifications

EducationPh.D. in Power SystemsDomain Expertise

  • Microgrid applications, especially with DER (Distributed Energy Resources)

 

Technical Skills

  • Hardware-in-the-loop testing with RTDS, OPAL-RT, RSCAD, etc.
