The Firmware Test Engineer II will collaborate and establish trusting relationships with cross-functional engineering and testing teams to support Test Management across the firmware verification lifecycle.  You will help translate requirements into clear, testable, traceable and automation-ready verification solutions that support new product development deliverables at key milestones.

You will also be DISRUPTIVE through these duties and responsibilities:

• Review firmware, hardware, and system requirements for clarity, completeness, and testability.

• Identify requirement gaps, ambiguities, risks, and traceability issues.

• Design and maintain test cases for firmware features and subsystems of low- to mid-level complexity with supervision from Senior/Principal engineers.

• Support HIL test development by identifying needed interfaces, instrumentation, and test resources.

• Develop and maintain Python-based automated test scripts.

• Configure and execute tests using HIL systems, development hardware, and laboratory equipment.

• Analyze test failures and help isolate issues to firmware, hardware, test automation, or test setup.

• Document test results, objective evidence, and defects with clear, reproducible details.

• Collaborate with cross-functional teams in Agile projects and participate in technical reviews.

• Contribute to reusable test assets, automation frameworks, process improvements, and continuous learning.

• Use Agile methods to define tasks, provide estimates, and communicate progress to ensure adherence to schedule and Milwaukee Tool’s processes.

• Schedule, develop agendas for, lead, and document technical meetings and formal presentations.

What TOOLS you will bring with you:

• Bachelor of Science degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Computer Science, or related field

• 2+ years of experience with verification and validation testing, embedded systems and/or PCBA design.

• Experience with requirements management, defect tracking, source control, or peer review tools such as JAMA, Azure DevOps, Jira, Polarion, or similar platforms.

• Ability to read schematics and datasheets and apply a working understanding of digital circuits and firmware/electronics interaction.

• Experience developing or reviewing test cases or test procedures from requirements.

• Working proficiency in Python, including the ability to write, execute, and debug test scripts.

• Familiarity with laboratory equipment such as oscilloscopes, logic analyzers, power supplies, electronic loads, data acquisition systems, or multimeters.

• Structured problem-solving skills and the ability to investigate failures across software, firmware, hardware, and test setup boundaries.

• Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to document requirements gaps, test rationale, results, and defects clearly.

• Experience collaborating cross-functionally outside of your core discipline which includes accepting technical feedback, managing assigned work, and exercising sound judgment with appropriate guidance.

• Ability to travel up to 10%, domestically and internationally.

Other TOOLS, we prefer you to have:

• Exposure HIL testing, simulation, test-fixture development, or automated test systems.

• Experience with National Instruments hardware, TestStand, VeriStand, or LabVIEW.

• Experience with black-box and white-box testing, bare-metal firmware, embedded C or C++, unit testing, or structural testing methods.

• Exposure to DevOps, automated regression testing, or continuous integration and delivery pipelines.

• Experience using AI-assisted engineering or programming tools to
• improve productivity and quality.
