*This role works a Hybrid schedule with 3 days per week at our headquarters in Columbia, MD, and 2 days from home once up and running in the position.*

American Pest is looking for a strong accounting professional who's ready to take ownership of the numbers and help guide the financial operations of a growing business. As our Controller, you'll lead the accounting team, oversee day-to-day accounting operations, and ensure our financial reporting is accurate, timely, and reliable.

You'll work closely with our VP of Finance to manage the financial close, strengthen controls and processes, and build accounting practices that can scale with the business. What You'll Do... As our Controller, you'll take ownership of American Pest's day-to-day accounting operations while leading and developing the team responsible for keeping our financial information accurate and on track. You'll oversee the general ledger, accounts payable and receivable, cash management, payroll accounting, fixed assets, and the monthly, quarterly, and annual close process.

You'll prepare and review financial statements, maintain strong internal controls and GAAP-aligned accounting practices, support audits, and ensure information flows accurately between our accounting, operational, payment, and banking systems. Just as importantly, you'll look for opportunities to improve how the accounting department works, strengthening processes, building better procedures, and creating an accounting operation that can continue to scale as American Pest grows.

Who You Are... So, what does it take to be successful as the Controller at American Pest? For starters, you'll have at least a bachelor's degree in Accounting. You'll also have...

• A minimum of 5 years of experience with accrual accounting required, acquisition integration experience a plus
• Experience leading audits and establishing internal controls
• CPA preferred
• Financial Management experience preferred
• Ability to create financial modeling and forecasting tools
• A strong understanding and functional application of MS Office Suite with an especially strong understanding of Excel
• The ability to multi-task and prioritize competing responsibilities according to urgency and importance in a fast-paced environment
• Strong verbal and written communication skills
• Strong data entry skills and a high level of accuracy
• The ability to be a positive, up-beat, team-player
• High attention to detail and a desire for getting things right
• The ability to concentrate for extended periods of time
• The ability to read, write, speak, and comprehend English
• Legal eligibility to work in the U.S.
