The Department of Occupational Therapy at the University of New Hampshire invites applications for a full-time clinical assistant  professor of occupational therapy with a potential start date of January 2027. The position is a 9-month academic year appointment with an additional part-time summer contract.  The Department of Occupational Therapy is housed in the College of Health and Human Services within UNH. UNH is a research-high, liberal arts, land grant institution. Duties/Responsibilities

Clinical Instruction

• Teach undergraduate and graduate courses in alignment with ACOTE standards, course specific objectives and student outcomes.

• Develop and deliver course materials, assignments, exams, and clinical and applied learning activities

• Contribute to curriculum quality through course preparation, assessment, and continuous improvement of instructional materials

• Evaluate and document student progress and provide relevant and timely feedback to students.

• Participate in evaluation of courses, curricula, programs, and accreditation activities.

• Advise and mentor students, supporting academic progress and experiential learning

• Support admissions processes at undergraduate and graduate level

• Serve as a capstone project faculty mentor to OTD students

Service 

• Consistent with the service mission of the University, the clinical faculty member is expected to engage in service activities at university, departmental, college, and professional levels.  

Requirements

Minimum Acceptable Education & Experience:

• Terminal degree (PhD, OTD, ScD or similar) in occupational therapy

• At least 2 years of experience in OT clinical practice, preferably in one or more of the following areas: adult mental health, adult physical disabilities, geriatrics, leadership in OT practice.

Required Licenses & Certifications:

• Active NH OT license or eligibility for NBCOT certification and eligibility for NH state OT license

• NH driver’s license or eligibility

 

Preferred Qualifications:

• An occupation-focused perspective, with teaching and/or fieldwork experience preferred

• Academic experience preferred, including experience teaching via online learning management systems

• Excellent communication, interpersonal, and leadership skills.

• Strong organizational, critical thinking, and problem-solving abilities.

• Experience working with college-age and non-traditional students.

• Skill in working with culturally diverse constituencies in the academic environment.

• Ability to cultivate external relationships with community leaders, institutions, and stakeholders.

• Demonstrated ability to work with faculty, staff, and students as well as community groups of diverse academic, socioeconomic, cultural, sexual orientation, disability and ethnic backgrounds.

Compensation Pay Range:

$78,000 - $90,000

The rank of the selected candidate will depend upon the candidate’s qualifications.
