Position: CADD Technician 

Work Location: Fort Drum, NY  

Salary Range: $60,000  - $65,000 

Start Date: Contingent Upon Contract Award  


NOTE:  Must reside within 50 miles of Fort Drum, NY – Directorate of Public Works

Description: The CADD Technician will provide full-time, onsite project support to Fort Drum, Directorate of Public Works (DPW).  The CADD Technician will be responsible for updating floor plans and as-builts, conducting facility inspections to facilitate drawing updates, and managing the DPW CADD drawing repository. The CADD Technician creates and coordinates graphics, illustrations, visual presentations, proposal artwork, and communication products. The CADD Technician will ensure data accuracy of building drawings through Autodesk AutoCAD and Bentley MicroStation. Responsibilities also include assisting with CADD projects, field data collection, providing training, and developing job aids. The CADD Technician will provide customer service related to analysis, drawing requests, and CADD software support. This position reports to the Team UBT CADD Engineer.  


Duties include:   

  • Organize and maintain CADD data integrity and security in accordance with Army regulations and engineering data standards. 
  • Provide support for implementing and managing CADD applications and data. 
  • Extract facility data from DWG, RVT, DGN, TIF PDF, etc. file formats in the development of pre-survey floor plans. 
  • Prepare layout and perform drafting tasks from simple instructions, demonstrating a broad knowledge of AutoCAD and MicroStation for engineering projects. 
  • Compile, manipulate, markup, and update drawing files from a variety of sources including existing floor plans, site plans, as-builts, field observation, and PDF drawings. 
  • Perform regular quality control checks of CADD data and non-spatial databases with minimal supervision to ensure data integrity by conducting facility surveys. 
  • Produce detailed, high-quality cartographic products (digital and hardcopy) and accompanying reports.  
  • Facilitate the generation of reports and graphical representations of data in response to customer projects. 
  • Perform routine data collection duties via field sensors and field work, utilizing GPS to survey building corners. 
  • Process data for inclusion in Fort Drum's CADD and other related databases. 
  • Provide ongoing sustaining support as needed and as requested by the Project Manager. 

Proficiency: Candidates must be able to perform and demonstrate experience using CADD (AutoCAD/MicroStation) products for updating, analyzing, and managing CADD drawings. Candidates must have: 

  • AutoCAD and MicroStation drafting skills. 
  • Experience using Bentley MicroStation CADD drawing edits and maintaining standards. 
  • Experience using Autodesk for CADD drawing edits. 
  • Experience updating floorplans from field inspections. 
  • Knowledge of engineering measurements, scales, calculations, and estimates. 
  • Knowledge of building space utilization and data management. 
  • Proficiency in engineering design principles and construction methods. 
  • Familiarity with mechanical, electrical, or architectural aspects of AutoCAD design. 
  • Ability to perform routine data collection tasks associated with capturing or updating CADD data. 
  • Proficiency using Microsoft Office suite. 
  • Experience in producing high-quality digital and hardcopy maps and project graphics. 
  • Strong problem-solving abilities, attention to detail, organizational, and interpersonal skills. 
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills. 

Requirements

  • Associate degree or AutoCAD Certification.  
  • Two years of experience in computer-aided drafting and design (CADD) with MicroStation and AutoCAD.   
  • Must possess a valid driver’s license.
