We are seeking a detail-oriented Staff Accountant to join our team. In this role, you will manage core accounting functions, deliver accurate financial reporting, and provide clients with clear guidance on financial and tax matters. This is a great opportunity for a public accounting or tax resolution professional looking to grow within a fast-paced, client-focused environment. Last year alone, our team helped clients resolve over $34 million in tax debt — and our accounting team plays a direct role in making that relief possible. Key Responsibilities and Duties

  • Verify, allocate, post, and reconcile accounts payable and receivable transactions
  • Prepare accurate financial reports and present findings and recommendations to management
  • Analyze financial statements and summarize results for internal and client use
  • Identify errors, inefficiencies, and opportunities for process or cost improvement
  • Review and recommend improvements to accounting systems, controls, and procedures
  • Review client documentation for completeness and accuracy prior to processing
  • Advise clients on potential financial and tax liabilities
  • Maintain compliance with company protocols and deliver consistent, high-quality client service
  • Meet established daily, weekly, and monthly performance metrics (KPIs)
  • Perform other related duties as assigned

Qualifications

  • PTIN required; CTEC certification preferred (or ability to obtain)

Experience

  • 1-3 years of experience in public accounting and/or a tax resolution environment
  • Working knowledge of U.S. tax laws and Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP)

Skills and Competencies

  • Knowledge of accounting principles, general ledger functions, and month-end/year-end closing processes
  • Proficiency with accounting software (QuickBooks, FreshBooks, or similar)
  • Advanced Microsoft Excel skills (including VLOOKUP, pivot tables, and complex formulas)
  • Experience with tax preparation software (Drake, ProSeries, Lacerte, or similar)
  • Familiarity with CRM/ERP systems (Salesforce, Logics, or equivalent)
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and quantitative skills
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to explain complex financial and tax concepts clearly to clients and non-finance stakeholders
  • High attention to detail and accuracy
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment
  • Strong organizational and time-management skills

Compensation & Work Setup

  • $30/hr + uncapped commission opportunities (average monthly commissions $900, annualized $10,800)
  • Fully onsite in Irvine, CA
