Description
Under direct supervision of the Recreation Supervisor, Adult Sports Officials provide clear officiating calls on rules of basketball and maintain a safe and positive atmosphere for participants.- Officiates scheduled league play
- Prepares area of play with appropriate equipment
- Assists participants, answers questions, and maintains a positive experience
- Notify management of facility needs and any problems that may arise
- Ensure safety standards are met, and department and facility policies are followed
- Notify Parks and Recreation department of weather cancellations and rescheduling, standings, forfeits, player ejections, accidents, or incidents. Contact Captains in the event of cancellation due to weather or forfeits.
- Provide first aid when needed, along with an accident report- Must be at least 18 years of age
- Current Red Cross CPR and First Aid certification preferred
- Knowledge of basketball rules
- Ability to be professional and enforce rules
- Ability to cooperate and work well with other staff members and the publicPhysical Skills
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to walk, stand, sit, kneel, reach and manipulate objects, as well as talk and/or hear. This position requires mobility. This position requires the employee to be able to project their voice so that participants can hear instructions.
Hours and Compensation
We are in need of one referee and one scorekeeper for the Thursday night Men's Basketball League played at the Grafton High School Auxiliary gym on December 3 and 10; January 14, 21 and 28; and February 11, 18 and 25 from 6:30 p.m. to potentially 9:30 p.m. The starting hourly rate is $22.13.
