Description
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:
- Facilitate the benefit process to all new hires, including liaison between employees and the vendors.
- Enter all new hires into the systems and save all electronic forms into their digital files.
- Monitor employees’ premiums regarding benefits.
- Provides education and training on benefits.
- Assist with relaying packets to employees regarding employment benefits.
- Answers routine inquiries regarding County policies, practice and procedure.
- Maintains effective working relationships and maintains confidentiality at all levels internally and outside the organization.
- Complies with federal and state regulations.
- Works within tight deadlines and utilizes problem-solving skills.
- Input benefit data and update employee benefit records.
- May assist in reconciling medical bills.
- Audit benefit invoices monthly submitting to finance for payment.
- Process employee payroll benefit deductions to submit to payroll.
- Creates employee communications, as well as other HR related materials.
- Assist with the County’s training initiatives and programs.
- Assist with employee events, including Vendor Fair, Employee Forums, New Hire, Annual Benefits Fair, Wellness Training, Luncheons, etc.
- May assist with aspects of Family Medical Leave Act (FMLA), including communication with employees, monitoring time taken, calculating benefit deductions and reviewing all confidential medical documents.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
- Associates Degree in Human Resources or a related field;
- Two (2) years of related Human Resources experience;
- Or equivalent combination of education and experience required.
Special Requirements:
- HR professional certification preferred;
- Maintains strict confidentiality in performing the duties and protects operations by keeping information confidential;
- Departmental testing may be administered during interview;
- A criminal background check will be completed on selected applicant if a current one (less than 3 years old) is not on file.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
- Excellent research, analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Knowledge of various recruitment sources such as online, social media, local contacts or other creative methods preferable.
- Knowledge of labor laws, including FMLA, ADA, Title VII, and other Federal/State laws required.
- Knowledge of HR practices and procedures and working knowledge of HRIS (NEOGOV and CentralSquare) software strongly desired.
- Strong skill in using personal computers including Microsoft Word and Excel.
- Skill in the operation of all basic office equipment.
- Ability to maintain a high level of confidentiality and to work in a fast-paced stressful environment.
- Ability to work independently and exhibit strong attention to detail with a high level of accuracy.
- Ability to exercise discretion and judgment in interpreting and adapting guidelines to specific cases or problems.
- Ability to multi-task, have good interpersonal skills, decision making and accountability; commitment to continuous improvement; personal and work ethics.
