St. Eustatius, Caribbean | $3,500 USD Gross per Month | Target Start: Mid-October
We are looking for a creative and passionate Pastry Chef to join a Michelin Key boutique luxury hotel opening in St. Eustatius in November. This role is ideal for a pastry professional who thrives on creative freedom and wants the opportunity to truly put their own stamp on a dessert and bakery program. Reporting to the Owner with a dotted line to the Executive Chef, the right candidate brings a strong work ethic, genuine creativity, and the confidence to lead in a standalone restaurant environment. American or Dutch passport holders only.
- Design and execute an inventive pastry and dessert menu with significant creative latitude, covering both restaurants and special events
- Create, decorate, and present a variety of pastries, cookies, and baked goods to a high standard of taste and visual excellence
- Develop new and unique recipes, seasonal menus, and innovative offerings, keeping current with global pastry trends
- Ensure all pastry products meet the quality standards established in collaboration with the Executive Chef
- Liaise with guests to accommodate custom dessert or baked goods requests for special occasions
- Manage pastry inventory, monitor stock levels, minimize waste, and place orders to ensure timely availability of ingredients
- Assist with food preparation and plating as required, supporting the broader kitchen team during service
- Uphold food safety, hygiene, and sanitation standards throughout the pastry section at all times
- Minimum 3 years of experience in a pastry or bakery kitchen; standalone restaurant experience is welcome
- Diploma or specialized certification in Pastry Arts or a related culinary discipline preferred
- Highly creative with a strong personal aesthetic and the drive to develop an original pastry identity
- Bakery experience is preferred, including bread, viennoiserie, and artisan baked goods
- Strong knowledge of food safety and hygiene procedures, including storage and temperature control
- Excellent organizational and communication skills, with the ability to work within a multicultural team
- Strong customer service skills, with the ability to engage guests and accommodate special requests
- Ability to work a shift system including weekends and holidays, and to stand for extended periods
- Strong work ethic with the ability to work 48 hours per week over 6 days
- American or Dutch passport required
- Caribbean experience is not required; openness to island living is essential
- Salary: $3,500 USD gross per month
- Service charge: approximately $350 to $400 USD per month on average
