Position Summary / Career Interest:
Physician - Surgery: ColorectalThe University of Kansas Health System (TUKHS) and the Department of Surgery at the University of Kansas Medical Center (KUMC) seek an academic colorectal surgeon to join the expanding Division of Colon and Rectal Surgery. This faculty position supports the department's mission to deliver exceptional, patient-centered care and advance education, research, and innovation within the region's premier academic health system and quaternary referral center.
The position offers the opportunity to provide comprehensive surgical care for patients with benign and malignant colorectal diseases, including minimally invasive, robotic, and endoscopic procedures, across The University of Kansas Health System's hospitals and ambulatory sites throughout the Kansas City metropolitan area. The successful candidate will collaborate with a multidisciplinary team, including gastroenterologists, medical and radiation oncologists, pathologists, radiologists, and other surgical specialists, to deliver coordinated, evidence-based care for patients with complex colorectal conditions.
As a member of the academic faculty, the successful candidate will actively participate in the education and mentorship of medical students, residents, and fellows while contributing to the department's academic mission. Opportunities include clinical research, quality improvement initiatives, outcomes-based studies, and scholarly activities, including presentations and publications at regional and national meetings, supporting both academic advancement and continued innovation in colorectal surgery.
Required Qualifications:
- M.D. or D.O. degree required, or equivalent degree
- Board-eligible or board-certified in General Surgery
- Completion of an accredited Colon and Rectal Surgery Fellowship
- Board-eligible or board-certified in Colon and Rectal Surgery
- Demonstrated experience in robotic colorectal surgery and advanced lower gastrointestinal endoscopy is required
- Eligible for medical licensure in the states of Kansas and Missouri
