DESCRIPTION:

As an Engineer I in Product Development at Thermo Fisher Scientific, you will contribute to advancing our mission of enabling customers to make the world healthier, cleaner, and safer. In this hybrid role, you will support the development and improvement of assay products and analytical methods while contributing to the day-to-day operational management of the Product Development laboratory.

This position combines approximately 50% hands-on laboratory work and 50% laboratory operations and coordination. You will plan and execute experiments, analyze and interpret data, and document results to support product development activities. In parallel, you will coordinate the daily operations of the laboratory, including managing consumables and inventory, placing purchase orders, organizing laboratory spaces, coordinating shipments and sample logistics, monitoring laboratory resources, and helping ensure projects are delivered efficiently and on schedule.

You will collaborate with cross-functional teams to drive product improvements and innovation, provide technical documentation and support, and ensure compliance with quality and safety standards. REQUIREMENTS:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Chemistry, Biochemistry, Molecular Biology, Cell Biology, or a related scientific field required.
  • No prior experience required; experience in a pharmaceutical, industrial, or laboratory environment is an asset.
  • Familiarity with GMP, GDP, GLP, and quality systems.
  • Proficiency in analytical techniques such as chromatography (SEC-MALS, RP-HPLC), protein chemistry, and bioassays.
  • Experience with laboratory automation and analytical instrumentation is an asset.
  • Knowledge of aseptic techniques and ability to work in a BSL2 environment.
  • Strong problem-solving and analytical skills.
  • Excellent documentation and technical writing abilities.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Outlook, Teams); experience with SAP or other ERP systems is an asset.
  • Experience with laboratory information management systems (LIMS) and quality documentation is preferred.
  • Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities and coordinate day-to-day laboratory operations, including inventory management, purchasing, shipment logistics, and laboratory organization.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to work both independently and collaboratively in a cross-functional environment.
  • Flexibility and a professional mindset in a deadline-oriented environment.
  • Fluency in French is required; working knowledge of English is an asset.
