Description
The Hotel Houseperson supports the housekeeping department by maintaining cleanliness and organization in guest rooms, hallways, public areas, and back-of-house spaces. The Houseperson assists Housekeepers with room preparation, linen distribution, trash removal, and other housekeeping-related duties to ensure a clean and comfortable environment for guests.
Key Responsibilities
- Deliver clean linens, towels, and housekeeping supplies to guest rooms.
- Collect and transport dirty linens, towels, and trash.
- Assist Housekeepers with cleaning and preparing guest rooms.
- Maintain cleanliness of hallways, elevators, corridors, stairways, and other common areas.
- Restock housekeeping carts, supply rooms, and linen closets.
- Move furniture, mattresses, rollaway beds, and other hotel equipment as needed.
- Respond promptly to housekeeping requests from guests and hotel staff.
- Report maintenance issues, damaged items, or safety hazards to the appropriate department.
- Assist with deep-cleaning projects and special housekeeping assignments.
- Follow hotel safety, sanitation, and guest-service standards.
- Perform other duties assigned by the Housekeeping Supervisor or Manager.
Requirements
- Previous hotel or housekeeping experience is preferred but may not be required.
- Ability to perform physical work for extended periods.
- Ability to lift, push, pull, and carry housekeeping supplies and equipment.
- Ability to stand and walk for extended periods.
- Good communication and interpersonal skills.
- Reliable, punctual, and able to work as part of a team.
- Strong attention to cleanliness and detail.
- Ability to work flexible schedules, including weekends, holidays, mornings, evenings, and/or overnight shifts.
- Ability to follow hotel procedures and safety guidelines.
- High school diploma or equivalent is preferred but not always required.
- Legal authorization to work in the United States.
Physical Requirements
- Frequent standing, walking, bending, reaching, pushing, and pulling.
- Ability to lift and carry housekeeping supplies and equipment, typically up to 50 lbs., depending on hotel requirements.
- Ability to work in a physically demanding environment.
Preferred Qualifications
- Previous experience in a hotel, resort, housekeeping, janitorial, or similar environment.
- Familiarity with hotel housekeeping procedures.
- Basic knowledge of workplace health and safety practices.
- Customer-service-oriented attitude.
