This role is to assist in coordinating the systems and services required for an organized, comprehensive, multidisciplinary approach to the treatment of the trauma patient, as well as promoting the Injury Prevention Program. The functions of this role include administrative responsibilities, clinical activities, professional and public education, performance improvement activities, injury prevention, active community participation in committees and events related to reducing the risks of injury to the general population. In addition, this role will provide necessary support for all emergency preparedness activities to include hazard assessments, creating and providing training programs, creating, and delivering emergency exercises, project support and management, and support for all emergency preparedness committees and working groups.MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
EDUCATION, CERTIFICATION, AND/OR LICENSURE:
1. Current Licensed Practical Nurse license issued by the state in which services will be provided or current multi-state Licensed Practical Nurse license through the enhanced Nurse Licensure Compact (eNLC)
OR
Current Registered Nurse license issued by the state in which services will be provided or current multi-state Registered Nurse license through the enhanced Nurse Licensure Compact (eNLC).
EXPERIENCE:
1. Five (5) years trauma clinical experience (Emergency Department or Critical Care).
2. Five (5) years of experience in an emergency management or disaster preparedness role.
To be completed as established by department: (Administered at Department level):
1. FEMA Emergency Management Certification

1. Provides oversight of all aspects of the Trauma Program to ensure continued verification in accordance with WV Office of EMS Trauma Center guidelines or the American College of Surgeons Committee on Trauma.
2. Coordinates trauma care management across the continuum of care.
3. Collaborates with the Trauma Registrar to review cases and determine inclusion in the case list.
4. Prepares trauma program reports for the facility administration, Quality Management, internal stakeholders, and external agencies as needed.
5. Reviews cases prepared by the Trauma Registrar to ensure compliance with all registry-related Trauma Center Designation criteria.
6. Facilitates interfacility staff development by participating in case reviews and standardizing practice guidelines.
7. Develops and delivers educational programs for emergency healthcare professionals to promote competency in injury and violence prevention; provides community education on injury and violence reduction.
8. Assesses and evaluates all aspects of trauma patient care and ensures continuous readiness for trauma program inspections.
9. Organizes and leads Trauma Service Committee meetings.
10. Serves as a consultant and liaison to all departments to support optimal care of trauma patients.
11. Analyzes trauma registry data to identify trends and support strategic planning and performance improvement initiatives.
12. Participates in the development of trauma care systems at the community, state, provincial, or national levels.
13. Coordinates and maintains all Emergency Operations Plans (EOPs) and policies to ensure compliance with regulatory requirements and alignment with the facility’s overall plans and policies.
14. Coordinates and conducts drills and exercises, including tabletop, functional, and full-scale exercises, to evaluate the facility’s preparedness; documents critiques, lessons learned, and improvement plans.
15. Oversees Environment of Care rounds, site visits, and fire drills with a multidisciplinary team at the facility and off-site locations.
16. Ensures all activities and processes comply with Joint Commission, CMS, NFPA, and OSHA requirements for the facility and associated clinics and practices.
17. Participates in the Hospital Emergency Preparedness Committee and related subcommittees; contributes to planning efforts and develops project plans and timelines as directed.
18. Conducts routine inspections and maintenance checks of emergency preparedness equipment and supplies to ensure availability and operational readiness.
19. Promotes a strong organizational structure in collaboration with designated hospitals, EMS agencies, long-term care centers, frontline providers, WVU Medicine, and public health partners to effectively mitigate, prepare for, respond to, and recover from infectious disease threats.
