Description
As an Account Manager, you’ll own relationships with customers throughout the San Jose territory, collaborating closely with Service, Engineering, Inside Sales, and other internal teams to ensure their needs are understood and supported. You’ll spend time both in the office and at customer facilities, helping coordinate projects, resolve issues, develop proposals, and identify opportunities to expand existing relationships and grow new business.
Success here starts with technical credibility. Industrial water treatment experience is essential, and previous account management or sales experience is desired but not required. The strongest candidates combine hands-on technical knowledge with strong communication skills, curiosity, initiative, and a natural ability to connect with customers. If you’ve built your career as a water treatment technician, service leader, facilities professional, project engineer, or another technically focused role, this could be an excellent next step into broader customer ownership.
What You’ll Do as an Account Manager
- Build and maintain strong relationships with existing customers, serving as a responsive point of contact for service, project, technical, billing, and other account needs.
- Partner closely with Service, Engineering, and Inside Sales to communicate customer needs, coordinate projects, develop proposals, and ensure issues are resolved effectively.
- Spend regular time at customer facilities, staying close to their operations, understanding evolving needs, and ensuring they feel supported.
- Manage multiple customer relationships and priorities while proactively addressing issues before they impact the customer experience.
- Identify opportunities to expand existing accounts and develop new business, with approximately 25% of the role focused on business development.
What You Bring
- Proven industrial water treatment experience with the technical knowledge to understand customer systems, applications, and challenges.
- Strong customer-facing presence with the communication skills, emotional intelligence, and confidence to build credibility with both technical and nontechnical stakeholders.
- A proactive, self-directed mindset with the initiative to plan your schedule, stay connected with customers, solve problems, and pursue opportunities.
- Strong relationship management and organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple accounts, projects, and competing priorities.
- Experience collaborating across technical and operational teams such as Service, Engineering, Operations, or Sales.
- Comfortable working with business systems (e.g., CRM, ERP); experience with HubSpot or similar platforms is helpful.
- Previous account management or sales experience is preferred but not required.
- High school diploma and valid driver’s license required; some college or a chemical engineering degree is preferred.
- Ability and willingness to split time between the office and in the field at customers’ facilities.
Our client provides an excellent compensation package including a salary of $125K-$140K, plus 401(k), profit sharing, health benefits, and employee/family appreciation days.
