Job Description:

The employee is expected to adhere to all Company policies, procedures, and regulations. This position is part of the Airbus Customer Services team. The Aftermarket Supplier Development Manager (SDM) is responsible for executing local missions for Airbus Customer Services supply chain & quality teams, providing the proximity, reactivity, and industrial expertise needed to drive the development of Aftermarket suppliers. You will report directly to the Head of Supplier Management in America, with a day to day reporting line to the Head of Airbus Aftermarket Supplier Development in Europe. You will work with Airbus aftermarket suppliers based across the United States. The position will involve an estimated travel ratio of more than 50% to the supplier facilities. You will closely work with the Supply Chain and Quality managers in charge of Aftermarket Suppliers monitoring. Upon SCQM request, you will assess the suppliers’ capability/capacity and identify potential weakness in the industrial processes. You will monitor supplier improvement (short-term) and development (long-term). You will also intervene on supplier industrial issues to implement containment, mitigation and corrective actions (short-term). You will actively contribute to secure supplier's performance and guarantee customer satisfaction. Training and development will be provided to ensure the required skills and competences are attained. Core Business In support of the Aftermarket SCQMs in charge of Suppliers’ compliance and performances, ensure:

● Supplier Development: Lead supplier development missions & projects to improve aftermarket supplier performance across Quality, Cost, and Delivery. Scope includes all Airbus Customer Services segments, such as Fleet Efficiency, Upgrades, Aircraft Lifecycle, FHS, Satair as well as Airbus Corporate Jet and Asset Management.

● Supplier Audit & Assessment: Coordinate and execute a comprehensive suite of assessments on Suppliers capacity, capability, Industrial maturity & performance:

  • ○ Derisking & surveillance assessments (Transfer of Work, Industrial Ramp-Up, out of production programs)
  • ○ Aftermarket Capacity Management (CMA) for spares and repairs
  • ○ Recovery Assessment (8D, Supplier Events, industrial improvement…)
  • ○ Approval and Surveillance assessments: Support Process Capability Assessment (SPCA) for OEMs and Customer Fleet Services Assessment (CFSA) for MROs.

● Risk Identification & Mitigation: Identify and monitor industrial risks, such as volume fluctuations, long-term support, industrial changes and organizational restructuring and propose effective mitigation strategies to the SCQM.

● Stakeholder Communication: Facilitate transparent communication regarding supplier performance and development plans. Support the development of Customer services operations in America by providing information on Suppliers and connecting with the Aftermarket Supplier Management community as well as the line-fit Supplier Development community.

Required skills Education:

● Required: Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering/Industrial Engineering or similar field. Equivalent work experience may be considered in lieu of education.

Experience:

● Required: Minimum of 8 years professional experience in a procurement operations environment (monitoring, auditing, developing suppliers/operations) or equivalent.

● Preferred: 10+ years of relevant professional experience. Aerospace industry and/or manufacturing experience

● Must be a Qualified Assessor/Auditor.

● Knowledge and expertise of Quality Regulations (part21 and part145), Practical Problem Solving, International Mgmt. system standards, Authorities / Regulations / Standards, Knowledge of QMS, Auditing/Assessing / Risk Management / Continuous Improvement (Lean Six Sigma) desirable.

Licensure/Certifications:

● Required: Valid Driver’s License

● Preferred: Green Belt/Black Belt certification, CPIM certification (Certified in Production & Inventory Management)

Knowledge, Skills, Demonstrated Capabilities:

● Significant experience in supply chain (or procurement operation)

● Good knowledge of customer support (Airline’s operation)

● Good knowledge of regulation EASA Part 145 and Part 21

● Good knowledge of supplier surveillance method

● Significant experience in performance improvement projects (8D/9S, …)

● Team player; collaborative mind-set & stakeholder management skill

● Demonstrated ability to work effectively in a multi-lingual, multi-cultural environment

● Ability to effectively coordinate the work of others with different technical skills and experiences

● Ability to lead problem definition using a matrix organization and without direct management authority by leveraging communication and interpersonal skills

● Good personal organization, rigor

● Clear and synthetic communication at all levels within the supplier’s organization and Airbus to influence the decision making - Ability to summarize complex industrial situations in a clear manner

● Stress resistance

● Fluent English

● FHS, Satair and Upgrade business knowledge would be a plus

● Good knowledge of SSC (incl. ASR/GRISS) & Services Side letter would be a plus

Decision Making, Complexity: The Job holder will be part of a team and will be able to act autonomously and but operationally driven by the Customer Services commodity in Europe. The management support for the Job Holder is US based, as are the suppliers. Most internal customers will be based in Europe. This role will manage multiple suppliers while deferring to Lead SCQM for key decisions and complex resolutions.
