Description
The Lancaster County Sheriff's Office is seeking a Technology Support Specialist to provide hands-on technical support to agency personnel in a fast-paced, mission-driven environment. This position serves as a key technology resource for the Sheriff's Office, helping employees effectively use and maintain the technology systems they rely on every day.
The Technology Support Specialist provides technical assistance and training, installs and maintains hardware and software, troubleshoots technology issues, manages technology assets, and serves as a liaison between Sheriff's Office personnel and City Information Services (IS). The position also assists with mobile technology systems, including computers, cameras, software applications, and related peripherals. This is an excellent opportunity for a technology professional who enjoys solving problems, working directly with people, learning new systems, and seeing the immediate impact of their work.
Essential functions may include, but are not limited to:
- Provides technical support, troubleshooting, and training to Sheriff's Office personnel regarding hardware, software, mobile technology, and related systems.
- Installs, configures, maintains, updates, and troubleshoots computers, software, peripherals, cameras, mobile technology, and other technology equipment.
- Serves as a liaison between Sheriff's Office personnel and City Information Services (IS) to communicate technology needs, resolve issues, and coordinate support.
- Researches technical issues, identifies solutions, and escalates problems when appropriate.
- Assists with technology projects, system upgrades, equipment deployment, and replacement.
- Maintains technology asset and inventory records, including hardware, software, mobile devices, and peripherals.
- Monitors database storage and assists with data management and compliance with agency retention schedules.
- Provides technical guidance to employees and assists with the proper use and care of technology systems and equipment.

Minimum Qualifications
Associate's degree with coursework in computer science, business administration or related field plus four years of experience managing a complex computer system or any equivalent combination of training and experience that provides the desirable knowledge, abilities and skills.
Necessary Special Requirements
- Must successfully complete a background investigation appropriate for employment with the Lancaster County Sheriff's Office.
- Must maintain confidentiality of sensitive and law-enforcement-related information.
- Must be able to work effectively in an environment where technology issues may require timely response based on operational needs.
- May be required to work outside of normal business hours or respond to urgent technology needs as assigned.
