We are looking for a Senior Operator to join us within Talisker Distillery, operating since 1830!

Salary of £66,984.61 including shift allowance + competitive benefits package including pension, shares scheme and bonus!

The oldest working distillery on the Isle of Skye is set on the shores of Loch Harport with dramatic views of the Cuillins. Producing an alluring, sweet, full-bodied single malt is so easy to enjoy, and like Skye itself, so hard to leave. At Talisker, we produce the most popular peated Single Malt in the world. We deliver safely, efficiently and in a sustainable way as one engaged team for Whisky Explorers and Scotch Supply, to sustain consumer delight.

About the role

In the role of a senior-level operator at Talisker, you'll play a key role in delivering the safe, efficient, and high-quality production of our world-renowned whisky. Working as part of a collaborative team, you'll oversee site production activities, optimise processes, solve operational challenges, and help drive continuous improvement. This is a hands-on role where you'll combine technical expertise, sound decision-making, and a strong focus on safety, quality, and performance.

Key Responsibilities

  • Operate, monitor, and optimise whisky production processes to maximise performance.

  • Champion site safety standards and maintain excellent housekeeping practices.

  • Collaborate with Senior Operators and Engineers to resolve issues and improve ways of working.

  • Maintain accurate production records through automated and manual systems.

  • Perform quality checks and support compliance across the production process.

  • Carry out autonomous maintenance activities, including inspection and lubrication of equipment.

  • Act as the first point of response to operational issues, using initiative to make informed decisions.

  • Support performance delivery across Safety, Quality, Service, Cost, and People metrics.

  • Work confidently both independently and as part of a high-performing team.

Shifts

Due to the nature of our site, and our operation runs 24/7 365-day, the successful candidate will require to be flexible and able to work shifts. Where required operators could be asked to cover rotas during their rostered days off. Three periods of holidays are set within the rota throughout the year (holiday swap is possible amongst the team).

Previous experience in food or drink manufacturing, process controls, or relevant qualifications such as NVQ Level 2 Food & Drink, Brewing, or Distilling are advantageous, but not essential. Full training and support will be provided for the right person.
